Undoubtedly the most important match of the season so far for both clubs. Good to see Jonah going for a bit more width--four midfielders trying to play through the middle just won't work but a winger could create more chances. Hope Pato gets a goal tomorrow.

Looking forward to the game, should be really close. That said was told tonight the club are again struggling financially βΉοΈ more so than normal? Anybody? Financial plan in place for repayment, main income is from use of facilities which are booked up. What you still have is tax interest etc, which doesn't help. Justin and Paul are doing all they can. They would love to make funds available for more loans etc, but it is not financially possible. Hope for a good gate tomorrow and the right result, that's all we can do and get behind the side.

It's been raining steadily. But very heavy rain forecast imminent, and on weather radar. Please drive safely, Dartford fans and indeed City fans, please keep updated on latest road conditions, link below: www.oxfordmail.co.uk/li/traffic.in.Oxford/

Fingers crossed that we can keep knocking in the goals in the FA Cup...last time we scored more than three goals twice in an FA campaign was eleven years ago. Looking forward to the 4Q draw on Monday.

Great team performance today, especially in the second half. Joe Oastler commanding at the back, Kyran had his best game so far, Zac was a constant threat, Reece controlled the midfield, Bobson was brilliant and Kabby superb. The third goal was a beauty and Bobson took the fourth really well. Pity there were no cameras there to record it from high up. Dartford looked a shadow of the team we have found so hard to get a result from in recent seasons. Their fans were nice and understandably critical of what has been happening there. Hard on them as they were only one minute away from being champions last season. The surprise was the absence of Pato, which Jonah explained in the post-match interview. Between the lines, the financial issues alluded to above seem to have a bearing on it. We cannot afford to keep a good but expensive player when other teams are interested in paying for his signature, while his departure might make enough funds available to get in one or two more which our thin squad needs. If they are as good as Bobson we may not mind losing someone of Pato's class, and if Kabby continues to relish the middle striker role we may not miss Pato as much as we would have last season. Jonah referred to a player on loan last season--but which one?

Donβt see how the club can justify letting go the player whose goals last season saved us from relegation, took us to the brink of the 3rd round of the FA Cup and won us the Oxfordshire Cup. Not miss him? Cannot tell you how ecstatic I was in the summer when I heard he was staying, so what has happened to the clubs finances two months into the season that means we have to let him go? This sounds like desperation behind the scenes to me.
Let go a 30 goal a season striker, go figure. Irreplaceable imho, whoβs next Sincy, Oastler?
Seriously gutted βΉοΈβΉοΈ

Fair enough Pato did well last season, but of his 27 goals, I think 14 were penalties. Not so many goals this season to date and if he isn't scoring, he doesnt seem to contribute much to the team. Jonah said today that he wants to freshen up the team and we have become predictable in recent games. I don't think Dartford expected our forward line to be as good as it was today without him.
If Pato goes and 2 new players come in, I don't see that as desperation but something had to change looking at the current run of results. The fact that the club is still able to compete at this level is a miracle when you consider the financial problems that the current directors inherited 2 years ago.
If Pato goes it will be a shame as he has been great and he is a really nice lad but thats football and we have to move on.

Yeah, people have different views on Pato. But his record speaks for itself. Many goals at Gosford, and usually clinical when on form. There have been two clubs after him since last year, he's under contract, to the club's credit they are being as open as possible. No one wants to see him go. But as said above we have to make hard decisions. Nothing has been finalized. I would be gutted if Pato went Just for the Cup run last year he tore Colchester and Notts County defences appart, and of course he's a very nice chap.

if he isn't scoring, he doesnt seem to contribute much to the team. This is the single most ridiculous thing I've read on this forum to date, and it's not like that bar has been set very high. Pato is a very good link-up player who is just as often part of setting up goals as he is scoring them. Take the Cray Valley game as a recent example - him and Zac were playing one-two after one-two and he set up 2 of Zac's 3 goals that way. When he isn't running the channels he is extremely good at playing with his back to goal and picking out crucial short passes back into midfield to change the angle of attack and get us moving forwards again and a lot of his runs are clearly intended to draw defenders out of position to create space for others rather than himself. Now I'm not for one moment saying he's irreplaceable, if there's interest from bigger clubs he deserves the chance to move on, but to try and claim that he contributes nothing but goals is just plain idiotic.

Agree, no one is irreplaceable, but his contrbution has been outstanding. Whoever he joins he will score/assist in goals, a talent Ed baller ππ

Yes, Pato is a good player and we would rather not lose him. Agreed, he contributes much more than just goals. And of course, he scored plenty of those last season, despite being on his own up front much of the time. Admittedly, quite a few were penalties, but I'm pretty sure it was not more than half (i.e. 14)! And penalties still have to be scored by someone.
Nonetheless, I've seen situations before where a team actually improves after saying goodbye to a popular, seemingly indispensable player. And this season I thought we would hugely miss Godfrey Poku, who did every bit as much as Pato on our cup run last season; but we have moved on, and we are back in FAQ4 again. All I'm saying is that maybe we'll still be ok without Pato. We certainly were yesterday. If Jonah needed some justification for the move, that provided it.

For me, last season Pato was outstanding and the team was screaming out for another striker to support him as the onus on scoring was on his shoulders (and he fully delivered). This season I was delighted that we brought in Kabby, finally two strikers to share the responsibility. By letting Pato go (which now sounds like a sound business decision), we put that responsibility fully on Kabby. If Saturday is anything to go by then could be a brilliant move, if not, then lets hope other players step up (as Zac has done).

And looking at seven goals from 11 games,if he just repeated that consistency, your talking potential 28 from 44. No wonder other clubs are after him.

Jonah referred to a player on loan last season--but which one? My guess is its between two, Nombe, and Muzzy. Unfortunately both are being played in checktrade trophy games, maybe when that outlet has been exhausted, they might fancy pitch time instead of benchwarming. But this is of course pure speculation.
