The club would like to announce the departure of Rob Sinclair by mutual agreement. A change in personal circumstances for Rob has meant that committing to travelling to the club at least three times a week from his home in Bedford has become too much especially with his new-born child and his recently opened business. Rob has been instrumental over his season and a half at the club, making 53 appearances in the blue and white Hoops, scoring 15 goals in all competitions. The first of these came just 45 minutes into his City debut as he swept the Hoops into the lead against Welling United. He took a particular liking to the FA Cup as he notched five goals in his two seasons, including an equaliser against Notts County and two huge goals in the replay against Hemel Hempstead Town last week that helped to book City a date with Tranmere Rovers. A huge thank you to all you have done in your time at the club, and we wish you all the best in the future. www.oxfordcityfc.co.uk/news/rob-sinclair-2363814.html

I'm sure everyone holds the same opinion on Rob, an utterly joyous player to watch, easily in the top 5 i've seen in all my years of watching City.
One of those whom you can just see the game is effortless to play, a quiet and unassuming guy off the field and an absolute joy on it
Thank you Rob, for the great memories.

Probably one of the best players I've seen at non league level. Sorry to see him go. In my opinion could easily play league level. A huge blow to us at a crucial time. But we must move on and get behind Jonah and the players....

Assistant manager,Patto,Sinclair gone.....loan players in....has the budget been cut already - Assistant manager moves on for his first managerial appointment. - Player leaves for non-footballing reasons. - Good loan signings are made as a way of bringing in quality players who would otherwise be unavailable for transfer. What part of all this is remotely indicative of a financial crisis?

Very popular in the Oxford Mail, two stories inside an hour. You could get the impression they actually care, but for the doom and gloom headlines. Agree with TCFSS loanees now avalible. We can't do much about it really,Think ourselves extremely lucky to have been able to have Pato of Sincy at all this season. We must move on. Plenty of talent about, that we can probably add to now, and gives younger players a chance to make a name for themselves. Like to see more of Kunle Otudeko and others, who have already came off the bench and impressed see more game time.

Who mentioned a financial crisis not me, it just looks like a budget cut - all three leaving very suddenly and close together

Absolutely gutted to read of Rob's departure. Of course, the reasons are understandable and I join everyone else in thanking him and wishing him well. He has been my favourite player over the past year and more. He never seems to have a bad game and he is a pleasure to watch. Definitely in my all-time City XI. Our loss will be someone else's gain. But it is a huge blow at a crucial time when we face a massive cup tie and a relegation battle. I can't imagine we'll find anyone as good wanting to come to City to replace him.
As for Kunle Otudeko, mentioned above, I was told he has also left the club.

Heartily agree with Rijs: very difficult boots to fill. Very important that, in his absence, we can get a good result tomorrow to show what can be done, and keep confidence high for the following weekend.

Someone should tell the Oxford Mail that, as they have him in the squad, they can be forgiven for putting Sincy in as it was announced today.. Anyway just generalizing really, after Pato went we seem to go on the rampage. I won't mention anyone else like Wiltshire or your probably tell me he's gone, and to bring my boots and kit tomorrow.

Our two top players and Jonah’s right hand man, but it’s all good and nothing to worry about?
I suppose letting Sincy go is also for the good of the team? 😎

I suppose letting Sincy go is also for the good of the team? 😎 He has a new baby, new house and a business, if he asks to go surely agreeing a mutual release is better for the team than trying to force him to play? As far as joe goes, obviously it’s a blow but he’s been offered a good managers job, why stand in his way?

Understand what you’re saying but 100% Sincy will turn up at another team within the week!

No, clearly we should stand in the way of people's professional and personal lives just so we can win football matches. Got a newborn kid? The table doesn't care! Offered your first shot at management? There are no points for career progression! Who in their right mind wants us to be a club that thinks and works like that?

Presumably, if he did sign for another club within the time he was contracted to us, that club would have to pay City or agree a player exchange. But if he is taking time out to be with his family and build his business, his contract will expire and he will be free to join another team next year. Who knows? Maybe he will retire from the game altogether.
There are good reasons behind each departure, but we are going to have to dig deep now. Not just our top two players and a fine assistant manager; we also lost Godfrey in the summer, so make that the top three players from last season, and our most improved young player in Freddie Grant. As we saw before, loanees usually do get recalled before long, sometimes at very short notice (e.g. Jack Stevens) and without those three our squad is very thin, but we are being run on a shoestring and our attendances are poor for this level. We still have some good ones though, like Joe, Reece and Zac, and some promising youngsters like Udoka and the Craigs. If Jonah could sign a good left-side midfielder or wide player and allow Zac to play on the right, his natural side, we may even end up with a better balanced midfield. But I remember Jonah saying when we were struggling in September while Rob was injured, that in effect you can't lose a player of his ability without being affected.

Puzzling that we finished where we did last season and remain where we are now, with such a good side. Baring FA Cup run where we showed what we were really capable of. Maybe if we had kept those players from last season mixed with this season added, we would be up near the top. But in the Real world we have been through the second most turbulent time in our history. We have a debt to pay off which is bigger than I was led to believe last season. But it's been explained to us now In detail. Also the payment plan by Paul and Justin. Once again I see no pannick By Jonah in the match notes. I believe that he almost certainly new on Thursday both were going. He must now obviously look to bring in replacements within our means. But I want to wish all the lads the best of luck today. When you travel away regularly and do so today with strike action making your journey more difficult, yes you do just carry on,i make no apologies for this whatsoever, and believe the side that includes fringe players like Craig Fas, should show what they made of Bawling needs to step up to the plate in order to get extended terms, unless he's gone back to Torquay....COYH... Oh I'm worried sick... Whats that ever going to achieve?

Just got back. Proud of the young supporters walking 3 miles to the ground, because of industrial action, roadworks etc. Hampton station remains closed until early tomorrow.
As for the team, first half went on the rampage. Their keeper kept them from being 6 down.
The young lads that do the write up, will put things better than me. But what I saw today, were players passionate about the club and wanting to, As a unit win a game. Joe's goal outstanding, Sam and Zak Class.. Anyway enough from me. But By popular demand a song for the doubters.....

Rob has signed for Hemel, bit of a shithouse move imo to get your contract mutually terminated then rock up somewhere else on the Monday.

He said he was struggling with the distance and moved somewhere closer to home, that at least is consistent. Shame to lose him to another side in the league but he gets a better work life balance and we don't have to keep an unhappy player prisoner.

Looks like both he and Joe Deeney have done the dirty on us here. Maybe I'm wrong, but Shutler was right and all the talk about being so busy with business and baby is quickly forgotten if he's signing for another club, even if it is nearer home. Unless City have been paid for his signature, we have been tricked out of what should be ours and it leaves a dirty taste in the mouth, which is a real shame because we liked both Joe and Rob and thought of them as decent men.

I wonder whether it was after the draw, or at our ground that This deed was hatched. Won't forget this, hope the club are doing their best to look to make sure no contractual rules have been broken. But I said on Saturday at the game, if this did happen, any breach of contract compo would be chicken feed to what Hemel would have had to fork out in transfer fee.
Let's hope any other little deals are at least left until after the cup match please Joe if you don't mind...

As for Kunle Otudeko, mentioned above, I was told he has also left the club. He hasn't gone by the way, unless I was talking to a ghost at Hampton. This is a scouting video from a couple of years ago, he has pace. Very young, just needs patience and encouragement.

I suspect Joe told Rob he was going and would like to sign him. They may have hatched the deal in advance, which would mean Rob was being dishonest with Jonah in order to save Hemel money, and possibly even gain an advantageous deal for himself. It's horrible to think like that, but what else can we suppose when we are told he was released for family reasons as he's too busy, then within days he signs for a rival club whose manager also just left us?

A saying which never did make much sense! In the end, I'm glad City has an ethos of honesty and compassion. That may mean the club is sometimes victim to a fraudster like the Yank, because being honest yourself you may not suspect the dishonesty in others. It may mean we don't get the thousands Hemel would have had to pay us if this had been done properly and contractually. But I'd rather support a club like that than one where hard dealing is the norm and swindling is practised behind closed doors. At least Jonah and the board can have a clear conscience: they kept their side of the deal, and no doubt paid Sinclair even when he was injured (and Justin Bennett last season). Good values and practices are rewarded in the long run.
