City to prevail in what will turn into a mudbath at York Road given the forecast for heavy rain. Wiltshire against his former club, Tshimanga and nombe in a 3-1 City away win. Attendance 564.

Will be in the Greyfriars, down the slope from Reading station for one, then amongst other pubs, the Maiden's Head on the High St around 1pm-ish, once in Maidenhead. 😉

Last thing that either side would have wanted at this time of year I'd imagine. Must have been getting bad to leave it there with not all that long left to go.

Just back from Maidenhead. Ridiculous to call off with little more than 12 mins left! Rain no better or worse than at half time...no, won't be travelling back on Tuesday!

I shouldn't think City will welcome such a short gap before a replay, with five first teamers out today and another injured during the match. It was hard on them to have it abandoned so near the end when they were winning and did not look like conceding, but the second half should never have been started--playing football on that lake was virtually impossible. The pitch will not be good on Tuesday, either, if we have any more rain, and I see the weather forecast for Tuesday afternoon and evening is... heavy rain. Let's hope for another postponement and a match in the New Year when we may have a fit squad again.

I would say you are right from the Article in the Advertiser, things dont look good Rain today and heavy rain forecast for Tuesday. I would say they will be organizing an inspection. One of their fans said on they way out let's play it at their place, however I think this breaks the rules although not sure. Postponement looks more likely. As for article cast iron penalties no, in those conditions nothing was cast iron. www.maidenhead-advertiser.co.uk/gallery/maidenhead-utd-fc/139791/football-round-up-maidenhead-united-s-fa-trophy-tie-with-oxford-city-abandoned-with-15-minutes-toplay.html

Oh Dear, Needham Market out without kicking a ball.
Statement
Weymouth Football Club wish to advise their supporters that the Buildbase FA Trophy 1st Round fixture against Needham Market will not now take place on Tuesday 18th December 2018.
The visitors have unfortunately advised the Football Association that they have withdrawn from the competition.
While we have every sympathy with Needham Market's predicament in travelling to Dorset twice in a few days, we all as clubs know the rules of the competition when we enter. The weather can affect such fixtures at this time of year but we just need to accept this as a fact of life. If the boot was on the other foot we can assure you that the team would have been there representing the club on Tuesday.
As a result of this, Weymouth FC will now progress to the Second Round of the Buildbase FA Trophy.

Weymouth Football Club Board of Directors The Needham Market statement, HERE, does make interesting reading and offers more of an explanation. The FA clearly determined to stick to the Rule Book! Interestingly, the Needham Market-->Weymouth trek may have been a bit long, but Weymouth now face a trip to either Workington (383 miles) or the slightly less distant Ramsbottom (286 miles).

I have every sympathy with Needham. The FA would not be reimbursing them or their players if they gave up another two days to travel down there only to have the match postponed again. It is unreasonable to expect them to. Clubs at our level and below are not composed of full-time footballers and the FA needs to take that into its calculations.

I hope they never get placed in the Conference North like us, arriving back on a Wednesday morning on the team coach at 2, 3 & 4 am sometimes missing players because they had to work.

Whilst there is some sympathy with Needham Market, they have then (smacks of double standards) messed Redditch Utd around somewhat by hurriedly re-arranging their home fixture with the Worcs club. Redditch now find themselves having to travel an over 300 mile round trip to Suffolk at short notice on a Tuesday night!

Great result for City (and another £6k in the kitty): off to Maidstone on Saturday then. Two more goals should add a bob or two to Kabby's price if Exeter (or anyone else for that matter) comes around!!
