See they have got Joe down for a 4 game ban from Wealdstone Saturday. I know I didn't see the incident, but did he put him in hospital? I was under the impression it was more like a professional foul. I hope this is reduced or downgraded to yellow on appeal. God knows what they will dish out for Wiltshire.

Might be a controversial statement to make, but I have to say that I thought the majority of referees last season were actually very good. Obviously there were one or two exceptions, but it's easy to accept having the odd bad referee if it is once every 10/15 games! Just think that this season it seems to be a lot more common. Not sure whether there are a number of refs who have been fast tracked up the pyramid too quickly and are therefore out of their depth at this level, or whether something has happened over the summer! Just to clarify as well that I'm not just talking about referees against City, they've tended to be poor for both sides!

Just to clarify as well that I'm not just talking about referees against City, they've tended to be poor for both sides! Personally I think that refereeing has generally got much, much better over the years. The other day I saw some extended highlights of the 1970 Cup Final (Chelsea/Leeds) which I hadn't seen for very many years and could not believe what players got away with back then! The sheer 'physicality' of matches has disappeared, only, unfortunately, to be replaced with way more cheating and slyness and simulation etc., and, unless referees begin to take a tougher line with this in matches, I feel this aspect of the game is only going to get worse.

Personally I thought the man in black was a disgrace. He did not let the game flow whatsoever. As soon as there was physical contact of any description he blew up.Taking into account Hungerford's pitch, and the fact it was Boxing Day,what could have been an exciting match was marred by this man's ineptness.I rest my case.

We personally had big problems with our futsal style of play the season we finished a point outside the playoffs while in the North, using the Keeper as a sweeper - or roll ball to first man to start quick passing. Not sure how many sendings off for our keeper that season, must be club record, I think we had two on suspension when the Maltese Falcon got sent off on his only appearance for handeling outside the box at Tamworth i believe. I think they have changed the rules a bit since then, our style was new to the officials and they did not like it... Since then although we have moved on, we retain many of the good points learnt from futsal and mix it up. Those good points can attract desperate challenges as the passing can be lightening fast. That's where you get the cards or not. As for us In September we were standing off too much, we have in my opinion been more physical since and although we have seen some very good tackles, you are going to get the odd controversial decision, or overreaction by the Ref, however as Jonah has pointed out we must maintain discipline as the punishment is usually severe. This isn't easy especially with a young side. As for all other teams playing us, all dodgy challenges should carry a card because I said so

If number 5 went....number 6 should defo have gone as well...he was more the aggressor than anyone else on both sides.
Didn't think the initial tackle was to bad. Looked like he knew he messed up and tried to pull out of it and his momentum took him into kabby....yellow card at most.

6 put the punch in you can't have that. Blatant punch. What on earth was going through refs mind. Admittedly Kyran should not of got involved, but a push at best. Yellows for 5 & Kyran. Number 6 red violent conduct... 5 match ban...

Another great win today, and yet we stay in 7th. It shows how important goal difference is at this end of the table. Kabby is climbing the goal scoring charts: well done you Hoops.

Well, we got a bit overconfident there. Considering the season we had last time around, we should know better than to look at a team near the foot of the table and assume they can't play good football.
I thought Hungerford really earned the win with their second half performance. Unlike most teams, they came and used the 3G to play good football rather than playing shite and blaming the surface and their pressing high up the pitch threw us off of our own game.
We didn't miss Oastler and McEachran at Wealdstone but we did today. Going forward we were left lacking a good final ball - most chances came from cute backheels on the edge of the area which left players with a defender and the keeper to beat. The defenders we had are all individually good players but neither of the centre halves are the kind of players you would expect to lead the defensive line. That lack of leadership and organisation was exploited very well by the fast, short passing that usually works so well for us.
Talking of short passing, we played our usual game in the first half but by the hour mark we were reduced to a lot of long balls. Again, credit to Hungerford for making us do that, but we need to either stick to our guns and persevere with plan A when under pressure or sign a forward who can come off of the bench and make that more direct style of play work as a plan B.
The other nail in our coffin was Nombe coming off. Surely that can't have been a tactical change, and if that is the end of his spell with us then I feel really bad for him having to end on a bit of a low.
Thankfully, two bad results against one team can't take away the great run of form we've out together and the points we've racked up have put us in a really, really healthy position. We've got a tough couple of games coming up with the squad at the thinnest it's ever really been, but we just need to crack on and see what we can get out of them.

Absolutely agree with the above. Congratulations to Hungerford. Although some of the challenges that received Yellow cards could have easily been red. Depends on ref as we have learnt to our cost in recent games Joe Ostler challenge was no worse than two yellow cards given out yesterday. Yet he gets a four match ban sustained under appeal. Which I find alarming. We failed to appeal Wiltshire suspension in time apparently. So 3 matches there. Confidence was running high, but you still have to Have enough in the squad which is looking thin.
Thought our work rate in first 25 minutes of first half was tremendous Fleet directly through on goal and in penalty area shot too early with goalkeeper off his line and goal begging, lots of ping pong and blocks ricochet that could have gone in but they did not today like September. Then just like Bath they scored first we came back. We sat too deep again like September and paid the price. Don't think their keeper New much about the point blank shot late in second half, he just got in the way and it was smashed straight at him although the second good chance was well saved by him and he deserves credit for that. But those were breaks against the run of play....
