The O.M.'s preview HERE. Seems like Mark Jones's departure came as a total surprise to all bar the Board!! Obviously wishing Andy Ballard, someone with a lot of 'City years' under his belt, all the best in the dugout this weekend: Slough are certainly on a roll at the moment having won their last five league fixtures!

Echo that City Boy: It's important to get behind the team, they are going to need it in what is a very challenging next 3 weeks. One game at a time and maximum effort required. COYH

Very surprising to see Slough look so poor. Maybe they made the embarrassing mistake of looking at our league position rather than our recent performances and assumed we were inept - or maybe they just don't like the rain.
Today's performance looked a lot like the performances against Dartford and Braintree, just with the addition of competent (or maybe even kind) refereeing. We've never played like a side in the bottom two, and today was no different: same personnel, same style of play, and to some extent the same strengths and weaknesses.
With that said, Benyon seemed to make a big difference - especially in the first half - and offered a different kind of movement for the midfield to work with. Maybe he can turn out to be the man who completes Jonah's hattrick of inspired signings up front?
Rowe also looked lively when he came on and should be a good, free addition of sorts to the squad.
Most of all, I'm delighted to see Eddie Jones finally grab a goal.
Not sure what was better though- that goal or another vintage Scott Davies post-substitution meltdown.

I would echo toocoulson's comments again. It was a good way to end a disappointing week, and an achievement to come from behind against a form team and, against all the odds, end their long unbeaten run. Yes, Slough were probably below their best but they didn't make it easy and they scored a good goal on the stroke of half time after a first half dominated by City. It seemed like the story of our season so far: playing some good football, having plenty of possession but spending too long passing along the back line and pausing, and then missing the few chances we created, only to get caught with our guard momentarily down at a crucial moment. There were also several marginal offside decisions going against us when a goal looked a real possibility.
But the second half was as good as last week's was poor. A perfect start, and then great performances down the spine of the team from King, Tapp, Oastler, Fleet and Benyon, who offered exactly what Jonah predicted he would; yet ironically, goals from others, and none has deserved one more than Eddie this season. We mustn't forget that Craig earned us three points with two fine saves, including one at the very end, and several good clearing punches under pressure.
So maybe a corner has been turned, just when we hit the bottom place in the league at half time. Benyon apart, it wasn't by doing anything different from what we've been doing under Jonah, but the spirit and determination were good to see and you have to be pleased for Andy and Justin (now in his fourth spell on the bench!), if sad that our previous manager was not there to see it. If the refs had been like that before, he would have been.

hope that one good result doesn’t convince Merritt that he should give the management job to himself, two previous spells time for a new face in the dugout please

"Marginal decisions for offside". I passed your feeling onto the lino, Unfortunately my feelings were also passed on, that I thought one was definitely onside.... He didn't like it much....
