Snowy? I'm sure I remember 1976 being one long, hot hot summer...even in December! 😁
No it did get cold eventually. Sleet I think but the score was 0-5 the ref was rubbish,, so it was down to the Windsor for refreshments.
Earlier than you thought: the 5-0 home defeat was 27th October 1976 in the League Cup. City had been relegated at the end of the previous season so didn't play Slough in the League again for a couple of seasons.
Don't remember exactly when I first saw City, but I think it must have been against Witney in the FAC in October 1972 (in the middle of a run of 11 consecutive defeats!!!). Only saw them very, very occasionally for years after that as I was working on Saturdays most of the time, until I started watching regularly after the move to Marston. Not seen them for 5 years now, or, indeed, been to any live football for more than 2 years! .
Is this going to turn into a when-did-you-first-see-City thread??
Thanks for 'restarting' this as a new thread Padz. That Canvey game was a good one...and the semi-final second leg against Belper was a cracker too. The noise when Steve Fontaine's winner went in was incredible!!
