That was the worst performance I have seen from City this season. Judging by the number of fans who left early, a majority of fans felt the same. When we left the old stand five minutes before full time, I don't think anyone was left seated on the clubhouse side of halfway; I don't think I have ever seen it that void of people before the end of a league match, and I have sat in there for over 20 years. And that on the day when we allegedly had a magnificent gate of 729!
We obviously missed Zac, and playing with only one up front for most of the match just didn't work, as the others didn't get far enough forward and didn't press the Tonbridge defence at all. It was only when Nana and Craig came on that we asked the Angels any questions. Reece did his best but he needed more support from those around him.
Play-offs? We looked like the team in relegation danger today.

Meh.
Yes. Was disappointing again polar opposite of Tuesday.
Unfortunately yesterday exposed how much we rely on Zac and oystler. Take them out the team and we seem just collapse when the going gets tough. The turning point came when Benyon missed the one on one for the second match running. Our heads dropped.
Only highlight was fasimade when he came on for the last 15 or so. Thought Jones on debut didnt look too bad either.
Enjoyed the youngsters crossbar challenge as well to be fair.
The issue as a squad and management it seems is a complete lack of leadership. Noone talks...noone on the pitch was jeering up the players apart from king and Benyon. The management were again silent.
I stood down the away end for first half and at one point 3 city players. Jumped for the same loose ball only for it to fall to the 1 tonbridge player...a gift wrapped goal had it not been for king. Basic basic stuff
It was just a shambolic day yesterday. Tempers got heated when after queing from the 40minute they had run out of burgers so had very little food stock all the way through half time. No point getting your 750 fans through the gate (not sure where that number came from...450 I'd say?) If you cant cater for what you got
Happily they did have enough beer as people whittled away into the bar to drown sorrows before the final whistle.
Personally I'm going through the motions until end of season. This season will certain go in the "unremarkable column".
Get a new manager in with 2 or 3 games to go for him to understand the club and its operations during a season. Give him a decent budget...give him the responsibility and freedom to get his own staff/players. Rebuild the squad in the summer and we go again next year with a new setup and hope moral on and off the pitch will improve and we can all hit the reset button and go again.
Roll on the summer!

729!!!? I would be amazed if anything like that number turned out to watch on a dreary February day. That would be the biggest home, league attendance since 1025 turned out to watch City's first ever Step 2 fixture against Chester in August 2012. And the only other larger league gate was way back in March 1997 when coachloads of away fans produced 869 (the ground really did seem packed that day) against Yeovil Town as they stormed to the Isthmian League title on the back of 20+ goals from ex-City striker Howard Forinton.

Even with the kids and parents from the local teams there were around 400 there, including a healthy traveling contingent from Tonbridge.

I always used to find it funny that other clubs were so clearly inflating their official attendances by just outright lying whilst we just took our low gates like a champ, but over the last couple of seasons we've very clearly fallen into that trap as well.
Shame, I liked the moral high-ground.

Shame, I liked the moral high-ground. Yep always a good view from there! I just don't see the point of all this 'constructive accountancy' lately. Perhaps just another example of the 'false news' we hear so much about? I have/had, for many years, tried to keep a note of attendances (along with other match details), and I'd pretty much got 'the numbers' back to when City rejoined the Isthmian in the '90s, but I'm not sure there's much point in my saving them in future if they in no way reflect what is actually happening at matches!

O.M.'s report on the match HERE. Unsurprisingly, in this day and age, there was a much bigger article about the result of Love Island!!

i just wonder out of the 729 gate how many paid to see the game and also how many were getting cheap food and drink and the good old loyal support who go every week home and away have to pay top price all everything
