Worst referee I have seen this season. Two stonewall penalties refused, first when Nana Owusu was bundled over and then when Joe Iaciofano was tripped and knocked down, both clearly in the box and with goalscoring possibilities. To add insult to injury (and I think Joe got a cut lip for his pains) our striker was booked for simulating! The only booking, despite some strongarm stuff from Dartford defenders. He overturned the linesman's correct decision for a corner in the second half. I was in a great position in line to see that, just near the lino. Couldn't clearly see the one penalty he did award, to them in the first minute. He was weak and gave in to the constant complaining from the Darts, led and encouraged by their lippy manager.
Considering we had to play against twelve, City did well but just lacked the finishing touch.

Sorry Rijs, I thought the referee was excellent today. The Dartford penalty was sadly extremely obvious, and the ref correctly waved away all the subsequent appeals from both sides. The one 12 minutes from the end was in the category of "I've seen them given", but I would be furious if given against my team. I was right in front of the overturned corner, and it was obviously a goal kick and no wonder the the Dartford player was upset when the linesman flagged for a corner. Overall, City were the better team, but lacked the guile to break-down a determined defence. Here is a detailed review for anyone interested fatbearssportingdiaries.blogspot.com/2022/04/oxford-city-1-1-dartford-att-604-202122.html

A lengthy report from Dartford HERE. I see this report says 604 for the gate: another good turnout. 8th of over 600 this season? ...and congratulations to Banbury United on a result that ensures the league championship for them: 1835 at the Spencer Stadium to watch their draw with Tamworth that put them 20 points clear (and still with 4 matches to play).

Watching this through, I stand by my penalty appeals! The foul on Nana Owusu (which happened right in front of me) was not shown, but the trip on Joe looks clear enough, and arguably more deliberate than Charlie Rowan's purely accidental swipe when he was trying to clear the ball and an opponent came in unseen from behind him and got in the way. There was in both cases a contact in the box which brought an opponent down.
