Another good 3 points on the road, despite not being at our best we were never troubled by a lacklustre Weymouth.
If David Oldfield thought the grass was greener he was clearly very much mistaken , both on the pitch , and the actual pitch , despite being a good old fashioned ground a dry, bare and bumpy pitch meant not much football could be played. The opposition lacking in most areas, their defence constantly giving us back possession certainly didn’t help their cause. Kyp played, he was ok, Matsuzaka an unused sub, but to be honest, he was rarely getting in our side, but would probably have been an improvement on the very angry number 6 who seemed intent on verbally abusing his teammates.
Oldfield is reportedly on 50k there, and you can see why their fans are bemused by the fact he has assembled a side that it seems will struggle at this level unless they can strengthen.
Weymouth have looked a troubled side for years and years on and off, from the days of Clarridge and co, It is clearly a club with a valuable asset (the ground) which attracts the wrong sort of people getting involved with the thoughts of developing the ground , at least that’s how it seems to me, I could be miles off. Their fans are clearly unhappy and seem to have voted with their feet and mouthes, a sparse crowd compared to games gone by and they were deadly silent though out. I hope they can sort things out, though I’m unsure it will be David who is at the helm
On us, as I said the pitch made things difficult, awkward bounces etc, had we been on our game we could easily have seen another concord like goalfest.
3 clean sheets on the bounce, Ben and the defence growing in confidence, all looking good, Coyleys goal was excellent , he was basically invited to shoot, which he happily did.
Onward and upward to tomorrow!
