Ah the dear Old Oxford Mail, about to celebrate our senior professional clubs 125 years, of what is really only a 60 year history in their present form. Then grouping the nonleague teams in the FA Cup together, with the senior in league status. FACT, in second place (pecking order), in the usual small paragraph where no one looks in the sports section. Nothing like giving a bit of exposure. And This Is Nothing Like it..

Yes, it's a shame they all get lumped together, but Wantage Town have come further in the competition than ever before, so I guess their trip to Hungerford is the most 'historic' of the local sides' matches. P.S. I'm not sure why OU shouldn't claim a history back beyond 1958? (Shhh: City still lay claim to an 1882 start yet there is no evidence of any match played that early. )

City dribble round the banana-skins and move on to the Third Round Qualifying with a high-scoring win. It's twelve seasons since they last won by five goals in the competition.

Guess the rain must have kept a few at home and missing a the goals yesterday. Attendance really quite low at 142 - lowest at home in the Cup for over a decade. Hope the decent score encourages a few more out in the next round if City are at home...anyway, another £9000 into the coffers.

It's a pity they missed a feast of goals and if all had gone in it could easily have been 9. Seems some went down the bypass, they had a 'wear your shirt day' in their 2-1 defeat. Expensive day out, if your not a season ticket holder. Yep £9k in the bag, fingers crossed for home draw.

Really enjoyed it, some great pass and move goals.
Black clouds didn’t spoil it and the couple of away fans I got speaking to were delighted to have qualified for this round, the furthest they have ever got!!
Love non league football- even though it was the FA Cup 👍😀

Another home draw: OCFC v Dartford (06/10) - 83 years after the clubs' only other meeting in the competition.

If we continue in our confident mode, it's definitely winnable.

Yes, both sitting on 11 points from 10 games in the VNS so could be a close-run thing...(unlike 1935 when Dartford won 5-1 )

Yes, both sitting on 11 points from 10 games in the VNS so could be a close-run thing...(unlike 1935 when Dartford won 5-1 ) Dick Bull scored City's only goal in the game: just one of the 114 goals he scored in just 128 games for the club. I wonder what a centre-forward (striker) with a goals/games ratio like that would cost these days?!
