City Vets face there old rivals Chinnor at home tomorrow evening in a must win top of the table clash. With only one league game remaining, and Chinnor having games in hand, the boys need a win to have any chance of retaining their title. Despite missing Andy Cooper and Fraser Gills from injury plus Sid 'The Cat' Pagano and Arthur Albiston the bookies dream who yet again misses another important clash City choose from a very strong squad. In Sid's absence Alan Foster looks set to make his debut between the sticks and informs me that he is looking forward to becoming part of the City vets dream team. We also welcome back our leader and skipper Julian Dark who at last has been given a night off work!! Big and little Bas are hoping to be there for kick off along with Specky, Smiler and Tav?! so we are really hoping for an attendance of double figures this week... For all those that have been tempted in the past and not yet made it, get yourself down the City to watch the lads in action before its too late (some of them are not getting any younger you know!!) City Vets from; Foster, Dark, Dore, Tutton, Clark, Orlando, Sharkey, Merritt, Martin, Pearce, Holden, Spittle, Parsons, Maciak, Warmington.

Get in!!! Great result for the Vets last night in a 'proper' game against our friends from Chinnor!! The gaffa was absolutely delighted with the attitude of every single player (except Creedy who obviously needs to have a look at his priorities) who all showed that when the time comes they haven't lost their competitive edge. 3 - 1 leaves us nine points clear at the top having played 3 more games than Chinnor and a favourable goal difference of plus 7. In short this means we need to win our last game (by as many goals as possible) and for Chinnor to slip up during one of their remaining four games... Basically its going right to the wire!! Great performance, great result, great lads.. And Creedy I still love you!! Gaffa's M of the M - Rob Tutton although official match report to follow..

What a night, what a result,
The top of the table clash promised much and didnt dissapoint.
With a big crowd on a misty night football was invented for nights like this.
The game was only minutes old when the chinnor no5 took out city danger-man paul spittle. He was carried from the field and sholden was brought on to replace him. This definately wasn't in the gaffers plan and with no cruddy on the line calling the shots he looked shell-shocked. there can be no denying the seriousness of the injury though as it took him 3hours to hobble the 20 yards to the changing room!
City weathered the storm thanks to the back 4 especially dorey and tutton, and on the half hour it was city who took the lead from orlando after fine play from new center forward pearce, orlando was delighted with this and turned and ran pointing to his wife and son shouting 'thats for you'! It really was a touching moment
city got to the break 1 up thanks to a miracle tackle from dorey.
half time city 1 even though they live only 10 miles away they sound like the cast of eastenders 0
with no half time rocket from creedy city started the 2nd half sluggishly and were dragged into a scrappy affair.
It was no surprise when the mockneys equalised after a mix-up between dorey and the new turkish keeper allah foster who looked like he'd been stapled to the goal line ( his face was similar to when he was 10 and he let a young leigh bastable score 2 past him in the under 11 cup final)
In hindsight this probably wasnt a bad thing as after a couple of substitutions the boys started playing again, led by dorey who after playing a whole season without really looking bothered bombed up and down the flank and kicked anything that moved, including the chinnor no6 who seems quite a nice bloke! It was pointed out by shakin holden that it might be because hed never won anything!
10 minutes later the lead was restored when fine work again from pearce led to the ball finding its way to super-sub stewy parsons who made no mistake from 6 yards, cue absolute bedlam in the shed end and the city bench, uber-fan steve tavinor looking a little like a bee gee reckoned it was his finest moment as a city fan. There were a couple of scares for city including a fine 1 on 1 save from faisalter and a clearance of the line from tutton.
then with 10 minutes to go city scored probably there best goal of the season when a fine move was finished superbly to cap a fine performance from pearce and the team.
city also showed an edgier side with dore, martin, parsons and pearce all getting involved with the opposition but the ref who was superb all night handled things magnificently.
so city finished there league campaign with a victory and have to wait and see if there to retain the title.
final score city 3 cor blimey guvnors 1
man of the match- robert tutton, but dorey, merritt, and pearce were all class

Great match report as ever and good to hear that the Vets march on!!
Only one correction, City have one must win game left away to Wantage... Paul Crud is organising a coach if anybody is interested... I believe it will be £5 at ticket, which includes a cheese and pickle sarnie, a can of Fosters and 10 minutes holding our mascot Archie Bastable.
Stick me down for 3 tickets Cruddy!!
