So into the squad come Ashan Holgate and Josh Mulvany, departing is Nabil Shariff.
Holgate has looked a lively player in the past when he's played against us, not sure of his goalscoring ratio but certainly caused a few problems for Supermarine against us before so could be a useful signing, Mulvany is a very hardworking combative midfielder, looked a good prospect a few years ago at Didcot and has since gone on to play at a decent level in the states so should bring something to the squad.
From a personal standpoint i'm pretty gutted to see Nabs leaving, but ultimately a striker will always be judged on how many goals he is scoring and Nabs just wasn't scoring as many as he maybe should have, but he is an extremely hardworking forward, holds the ball up superbly and doesn't give the defenders a moments peace, hopefully Ashan will have similar qualities with the added goalscoring element that Shariff was lacking, i won't be surprised to see him end up elsewhere and start banging in goals, think it was mainly a confidence thing and a few goals will get him scoring.

Yes, a bit like Dan Holman (and Elliott Sandy?). But, as you say, strikers are judged on their scoring record, whatever other good points they have.

A bit puzzling though was fordys reference to four proper forwards now Holgate, Cook,Basham, Barcelos. No mention of Benjamin ? (Comments in today's oxford mail)

(Comments in today's oxford mail) Its a kick up the backside, he does it every now and then when there missing chances. He wants Dec to make his own headlines by scoring on satuarday!

I think it's more the fact that Cooky will play as a striker but Dec is a winger/central midfielder as Stanley wasn't mentioned either.
Nab is playing for Kettering tonight

Nab is playing for Kettering tonight Nab is a good technical player his overall game was good but finishing? Well 1 goal in 19 Appearences league & Cup says it all and its a message to others, to keep ourselves out of the bottom area we need to start scoring. Hopefully the new forwards will fit in well and quickly! Providing Ford with more options.
