Jack Mills will be in the squad after his match ban,and we will need a solid back line to soak up the inevitable onslaught of Sandy, Diggin,Winters and friends! Would like to see Benjamin and Basham start if both fully fit, our midfield in whatever combination will have to be at there best As we know they can pass it, but so can we if we concerntrate on better distribution and our forwards bounce back to the form we know they are capable of, we could get a result. Lets Ave it!

What are the chances of the game being on ? It's been lashing down all day in Thame... Yep heavens opened about lunchtime, dry forecast for tomorrow, probably depend on how it drains and whether an inspection is required, maybe someone can update us on Pitch later when club opens.

MD and Chairman are currently working on the pitch to ensure the match goes ahead tomorrow... A pitch inspection was planned for 9.30AM!!!!! Think that might have been delayed a little to allow for changes in weather and pitch conditions before making a decision. COYH x

MD seems confident that it'll go ahead... Spent a good three hours 'vacuuming' the pitch so... It would be good to see us score a good few goals - we need a good win to kick start the new year...

I would like to thank everyone involved (do I have to say the ref) Anyway for a wonderful game, Matt Ingram legendary penalty save ,Mr Barcelos (he does what he wants) stoney Millsy, Ballard, everyone put in 100 % Holgate was menacing to there defence 1st half. For the First Time in a long while I am speechless. Brackley were and still are play off standard. But today we gave it our all and we won still having a very happy new year and same to saints fan in clubhouse who was so gracious in defeat! Oh well done Fordy

Fantastic result today, really battled for that, Andy Ballard overhead kick(did i really see that happen!) Not bad considering we played against 12 men, the referee booked me, several of the stewards and the bar staff before he left the ground, easily one of the worst we've ever had at court place farm, thankfully he was being assessed so hopefully the last time we see him

Really enjoyed that today. Brilliant result. I thought the behaviour of one of the Brackley staff (little one who spent most of time standing in front of their dugout?) was out of order - trying to get Wilmott sent off for challenge on touchline (with Sandy nr end of 1st half) by raging at ref & making out it was a terrible challenge (if anything it was Sandy who went in studs up, but it was no big deal either way) - His reaction blew the whole situation out of proportion (Sandy didn't help either) and think it was nothing but a cynical attempt to get an oppostion player sent off. Out of order. That and their over celebration of their goal made the result even sweeter. Would have been sickening to see them convert one of the softest pen awards ever seen to get a point.

Yes, a very entertaining match despite an awful ref (and I don't often complain about refs as I've been one myself and know what a tough job it is). Why he didn't book the Brackley 2 for a brutal studs up on Felipe, when he booked two of ours for no worse, probably lesser offences, I don't know--he mistakenly thought Felipe was making a meal of it. And as for the penalty, does anyone know what that was for? He was giving Brackley free kicks all afternoon and we were lucky not to concede from one of Winters' other efforts--a beauty which cannoned off the bar. He is a class player, for sure, and he took his goal well but there was a bit of luck in the build-up (not clear from the site report or the Oxford radio report). In fact it stemmed from what looked like a good throw-out by Ingram which was setting Nick Stanley off on a run. Unfortunately the ball got stuck under Nick's right boot and bounced off to a Brackley player who immediately fed Winters, who had switched sides to the right. He cut inside Stonehouse (who apart from that moment had a very good game) and fired in a low drive by Ingram's near post. Our keeper played well all afternoon but may be a bit cross that that one eluded him. He more than made up for it with his penalty save.
In general City defended well and battled all over the park but were outplayed for the middle sections of each half because Brackley passed the ball better and broke out of defence more quickly. In the first half City gave the ball away too often and didn't create much. Best chance fell to Ashan Holgate from a Benjamin cross, but it came to him quickly and caught him slightly off balance. He took a touch to control it, only to have the ball whipped off his toes by a smart defender.
In the second half City were a bit better, especially after Basham came on, not that he did anything amazing himself but he seemed to lift the players around him. Felipe got better the longer the game went on--no doubt the goal lifted his confidence. Dazza also had a very good second half, finding his target with a high % of passes but my MOM would be Ballard, who was just everywhere, an absolute Trojan once again, and a threat with his mighty throws. It was very fitting that he scored that wonderful winner--and over his right shoulder with his left foot! Four out of five of those attempts would go wide or be saved, but today it was just perfect!
Brackley will feel hard done by, but the ref gave them every chance and to be honest, it wasn't a very well-struck penalty. In the closing minutes I expected them to throw everything at us but they seemed to have shot their bolt and were tired--considering we played on Sat and they didn't, it's a credit to our lads that they were still running well at the end. Thanks to them all, and to Fordy, for giving us a festive treat today!
