Gutted to hear that we have released Lyonsy, one of my all time favourite players to have worn the hoops, a proper 100% player who scored some crucial goals for us
hopefully we'll see him back at City sometime in the future

Very sorry to see Michael has gone ,always gave 100% pity they played him out of his best position this season .May be Fordy should look at some of his big earners and get them to put the effort in that Michael put into his game. Also seems a strange time to off load him as we are very short of his type of player who will always put 100% into his game .IF YOU READ THIS MICHAEL MAY I WISH YOU THE BEST .

Does seem strange. Any reason why he's off? Always rated him and as you say, always gave 100%

Definitely agree with Padz's sentiments here: a tremendous workrate, never-say-die attitude, great pace and always likely to do something a bit special. That pre-season injury v Maidenhead was a big blow. This will be a great signing for whoever can get him.

Just read Fordys comments on home page, about commitment by the players Michael never gave less than 100% to city so shocked hes been released! I know hes been having to work away over the last few weeks, but obviousley he has to pay the bills! Maybe Fordy should look at some of his FAVORITE players before he wealds the axe on hard working footballers!

I think the manager's comments on the main site in this week's Ford Focus clear up any misconceptions entirely. As I said in my earlier posting, that injury v Maidenhead was a bad blow and came at entirely the wrong time (as if there's ever a right time!) for Mike. Anyway I'm sure we wish Mike all the best - and perhaps, as Mike Ford says, if he regains full fitness we may see him back at CPF in the summer.

You say about Michaels fitness how long do we have to wait on Jamey Brooks and Richard Knight or is that some how different

Onlooker,
If you read again it's not just about his fitness, it's also about availability. Bairdy retired because he couldn't commit to playing because of work commitments, therefore with Lyonsy also struggling to find the time to train and play it was probably the best option for all involved. If he can find another team where he can find that important time to train and play matches then fingers crossed he'll be back for us next season.
Brooks' availability is not an issue and Richard Knight is on contract.

Sorry Ash but that does not wash with me seems a rule for and not for others .You will only net fit if you play and it is a game were you can use 14 players and with all the games coming up he would have been the ideal man to give an extra pair of legs

Onlooker,
I understand that but if Lyonsy was not available then how would he have been able to play those games coming up?

Onlooker, i personally think it's quite clear what mike has said.. I know you say you can't get fit unless you play games. But michael has been unavailable to not only train, but too play games. If fordy can bring in someone who can train , and can play then surely that's good management ... I too really like michael and would prefer him to stay, but the club also needs to think of the possibility of relegation this season, and getting the players in to stay up ..
