Even so it seems a strange statement for the FA to make. 

I should have said "a bloke from the FA" - in the department that deals with the Fit and Proper test. I don't think he was speaking on behalf of the FA. :-D 
TAG may have lied about his past achievements but that wouldn't cause him to fail the F&P test as it's only concerned with proven criminal activity.

Still, it presumably reflects a commonly-held and surprisingly cynical opinion in that office. Doesn't fill you with a great deal of confidence in how the game is viewed at that level!
