So I discovered more about the mysterious Pablo Perez that was on the bench at Gosport.
Aged 30 , He plays all forms of the game including 11 a side, playing as high as the Portuguese Premier league for C.D Nacional (or Nacional da Madeira ) (the same team a certain Ronaldo played for), Futsal and even beach Soccer where he has played for the Spanish national team. His working life he has been a member of the Spanish armed forces as an infantry man, though this could be a national service thing(?). He has a long-term British girlfriend who’s family are largely ex-pats.
He played for the Lions yesterday and looked good....though the opposition was very poor so it was hard to judge his true ability, but I can say he has very quick feet and he is two footed, can play on both his right and left foot with equal quality. I believe in 11 a side he plays as a Striker....though I might be wrong there.
I spoke to EG after the game yesterday and he confirmed he was the one on the bench at Gosport, he also confirmed that him and another Futsal player are training and registered with the 1st team, but will only be used as Emergency back-up as the management have agreed to keep both match fit for the Futsal and probably our best chance at getting a City team into competitive European competition.
Reading between the lines, I think the option is there for both of these players particularly to join the first team on a permanent basis but it will be from next season as EG acknowledged the downfall this season has been the lack of physicality especially among the Spanish players who aren’t used to it.
By waiting until next season it gives the coaching staff more time to get them ready physically for the tough time they will have in the conference if they choose to take that route.
Sensible thinking in my Opinion
