On Wednesday night, the vets play Kidlington away (kick-off,7.45PM) in the re-match of the game that got abandoned last month, due to the unfortunate injury to Kidlington's Gary Parker. With 18 minutes remaining and City 2-1 up, Gary suffered a break of the tibia & fibula. Due to the seriousness of the injury, the right decision was made to abandon the game, and replay at another date.
At the time, this was always billed as possibly the championship decider & that is still the case, although a win for City is an absolute must, whereas Kidlington can still win the title if they don't pick up the points.
After disappointingly losing our first league game of the season last week against Chinnor, we were given a lifeline with Kidlington dropping points at Wantage. Currently Kidlington have dropped 4 points with 2 games to go & City have dropped 7 points with 3 games to go. A win for us tonight would then probably mean goal difference is vital, and with Kidlington having a +7 better than City, it's going to be a challenge for my boys to lift that title. All I can ask, is for them to go out and pick up 3 wins out of 3, then I can ask for no more.
We have a lot of our players back this week, and I have a squad of 17 to pick from, so I have that nice problem this week of choosing the right team selection. Even with a squad of 17, 3 players are missing. Paul Spittle, Phil Rodney (Both unavailable) & Paul Kimber (Injured). City 1st team Manager, Mike Ford comes into the squad for the first team this season
Squad: Colin Fleet, Simon Pagano, Robert Tutton, Andy Marriott, Justin Lee, Martin Smy, Mike Ford, Leigh Bastable, Mark Jennings, Chris Fontaine, Julian Dark, Justin Merritt, Mark Orlando, Ronnie Williams, Wayne Holden, Julio Barresi, Dave Southam.
