Jose spoke on Saturday saying his mother wants him back in Spain to be close to family, he said them it would be a tough choice. All the best to both, 2 very good players who gave there all. Jose one of my favourite players consistant and always played for the shirt and pride.

Jose's solo effort goal at Boston, a run from the halfway line, must count as one of the best goals ever scored by a City player. Hopefully it will still be viewable on YouTube.

Also his winner with long range strike vs Maidstone Away early season in front of 2,000 people! He also scored against maidenhead away before we went and conceded again. Always gave the fight!

I see Barrow have released big Mo Fofana, would be amazing to get him back if financially viable

Scott Davies has joined from Wealdstone, very pleased with that, a proper ball playing midfielder and possesses that spark to win a match

Liam Enver-Marum from Basingstoke Town Liam joined the club in March 2014 from Conference South rivals Bishops Stortford. He made an instant impact, scoring eight goals in the final six weeks of the season, including two in the Hampshire Cup Final at Fratton Park against Havant & Waterlooville. Liam then averaged a goal every two games in his first full season at the club as Basingstoke equaled their highest ever league finish and qualified for the Play-Offs. His previous clubs include Forest Green Rovers, Ebbsfleet United and Braintree Town

Seems a decent prospect and very good record considering Basingstoke's difficulties last season.
While no doubt myself, like many will critisise if it all goes wrong....but its good to see Justin and his team be decisive and by signing them up early doors gives plenty of time for them to build a working relationship before the new season.

Hedges' comment in another thread was interesting and would have quite an effect: "We won't see any Spanish players next year, unless any of the futsal team attempt to make the transition which I think is unlikely and while they havent abandoned getting the Spanish over here it has been put on hold for now."
So, does a change in style (more 'physical') go along with this move? Not that I saw many games, but some of the Spaniards looked extremely good technically, while others didn't quite seem to fit 'English football'. If we're not getting an influx of foreign players perhaps it's just as well that Justin has moved quickly on signings, as the availability of suitable players within a reasonable distance of Oxford and within the budget must be somewhat limited.

We did lack a bit of physical-ness to our game at times last season, Pondy will bring tough tackling but we lacked an 'enforcer' in the style of Mo Fofana and over the years a Ballard/Malone/Baird type , the style of Football was the right idea but it needed a bit more strength to it

Pleased with the 2 signings thus far, 2 players who should fit in well. Also proven players at this level aswell. Encouraging. Good to see justin moving early to capture his targets and players in his thoughts.

B'stoke fan here - thought I'd nip on as I see you've signed LEM and McAuley from us. Both could do a job for you - Macca didn't really play much this season but was a first team fixture in our playoff season two years ago. Just didn't really get a run of games to show much form. Here's hoping he finds it with you.
LEM is a real fan-divider and it seems this has been the case wherever he has been. Undoubted talent but held back by his attitude sometimes. When I first saw him, I nicknamed him "Le Sulk" as he chased nothing and expected everything laid to him on a plate. Last season, his relationship with the fans became toxic mainly due to a perceived lack of effort although the new manager in April seemed to reinvigorate him. He can either be excellent (scored both goals against you at our place in April) or abysmal (missed three one on ones in the first twenty minutes at your place in August) but I for one hope he does well for you and that he kicks on at Oxford City, otherwise he'll look back on his career as an old man about just what might have been.
Good luck for the season!

I do have a bit of a chuckle when looking on the Conference website and see their reports about the new City signings with the warning at the bottom saying "Permission to use quotations from this article is granted subject to appropriate credit being given to The National League as the source" when they've lifted it more or less verbatim from the City website. Perhaps I'll sneak in some errors and see if they get past their cutting-and-pasting!!

In terms of players we could sensibly sign, I'd like to see us make a loan move for centre back Robbie Cundy who was by all accounts fantastic during his loan at Gloucester from Oxford United
