Terribly sad news: a quiet, unassuming man who lived and breathed OCFC. R.I.P. Colin.

I am deeply shocked and saddened by this terrible news. I am sure I speak for many coaches at the club long before me and those after that held Colin in highest regard in prayers and thoughts for his family. He used to call me "my friend David". I was honoured and along with many others will miss him eternally.

Horrendous News. I went past OCFC this morning at 9:30, with police cars speeding into the complex, i feared the worst then but not for a second could imagine what we all found out this afternoon. Shocking News. Colin was a man who gave everything for the football club, the facilities and football club have improved drastically over the previous years. Testament to his hard work and also those who support/help and volunteer at this great football club of ours. My thoughts at this time are with his wife Sue, Daughters Sarah and Laura who also like there father help the club massively. Oxford City FC is more than just a football club its a community & family. I think the OCFC community arena or a stand should be named in his honour. RIP COLIN TAYLOR x

Very sad, as all OCFC fans are, to read this news. Colin's time as Managing Director has been one of immense progress for the club and he did such a lot himself, but seemed so modest and self-effacing. He will leave a huge hole--what a loss to his family, and to this community club. I agree with Mark: there should be something at the ground which is a lasting memorial to a fine man and great club servant.

So so sad. All of us lads at Nomads send our condolences to the family and friends of Colin. Only Friday Colin said how he was looking forward to our season as we looked good in our game, to hear this tragic news has knocked myself and the other lads for six. Colin Was and will always be Mr Oxford City, a true gentleman who always afforded time for anyone, Rest In Peace Colin, your be sadly missed mate.

While im certain in the midterm/longterm something permanent will be done with regards to a memorial.
Im looking at PSF's and theres not much opportunity with the 1st team to get a big crowd together. No home PSFs and all PSF are midweek until Brackley (Saturday 30th) meaning difficulty with regards to work.
Maybe a nomads game at home on 3G?
Would be nice to get a nice big bumper crowd together for a game to show our support and solidarity as fans to the hierarchy of the club, especially as there have been divisions in the last few months and sadly it normally takes an extremely tragic event like this to bring people back together and realize there is more to life than football.
Brackley might be a good shout, quite local and gives us a chance to spread the word and arrange logistics of getting people there?
Any thoughts?

I think this would be a great idea Hedges. Not too far and would be fitting. Also how about Banbury?
I'll do waht I can to get along

Banbury would be the better choice due to Fordy being there and half the Banbury team being made up of ex City/Nomad players....
But correct me if Im wrong I couldn't see a scheduled friendly against them in the other thread?

Can I suggest a more fitting tribute might be to actually do it at City?! He worked so hard to build City to what it is today, so it should be held at home. I'm sure the family would agree. We're at home first game of the season on Saturday 6th August, so ideal opportunity.

I've lost track of time and thought the season didn't start for like another 4 weeks, my bad...I'm therefore inclined to agree with this suggestion as are others.

There is now a Book of Remembrance at the Community Arena at Marsh Lane for those who knew Colin to record their thoughts and messages.
