Not much to say tonight! City had the better of the first half but it was more even in the second--two teams desperate for points cancelled each other out, and City's home win drought continues. I thought if we could just have converted one of the two or three good chances we had before half time, we might have gone on to win handsomely against a team whose defence panicked at times, but the ball wouldn't fall kindly and the chances were missed. Scott Davies' rash challenge at the very end will not have pleased his manager but may give others the chance to show what they can do, e.g. Poku who was strangely left on the bench today (slightly injured, maybe?). The captain did not have one of his better games today and frustration may have spilled over.
On the bright side, it was our first clean sheet; Jefferson Louis impressed with his strength, power in the air, fitness and commitment; and there were solid performances across the back four. Giles worked his socks off and Reece Fleet put in a decent shift too. On the negative, our final pass was poor and our shooting wayward.

Poku who was strangely left on the bench today (slightly injured, maybe?). The captain did not have one of his better games . Godfrey and Michael Fondop were involved in a car crash on the way to the game on the M40, so i'm guessing he was feeling the effects of that as he didn't change into kit despite being listed as a substitute

"Sorry" "Rash challenge". A sliding tackle Scott made contact with the ball is now a sending off offence. It happened in front of the away teams dugout where in was stand . They ran on the pitch and asked the ref for a Red. This happens right in front of me inches thenaway. Then the tryany of abuse followed. On Kick out Racism day. I heard racist abuse directed at Kynnan. Then Their bench decided after I pointed out that the simulation from their defender who was told to 'stay down" was over the top. I then received what can only be described as abusive behaviour about my disability from their Manager and assistant, who I asked to explain their actions in the clubhouse after the game. Still waiting.... But I am writing to the F A about their behaviour!

On the bright side, it was our first clean sheet In fact City's first clean sheet for 29 competitive matches...so definitely something to take encouragement from.

First game this season for me. Hadn't really appreciated until the other day how much the team had changed since last season and I wasn't helped by the fact that they put up the teamsheets for a different match in the bar!
Difficult to see how close Weston's chances were from the other end of the ground but they looked to be getting close towards the end. They also seemed well on top for the first quarter of an hour or so, but after that we created quite a lot of openings in the first half but unfortunately the ball wouldn't fall right and the final pass was often slightly wrong. Second half was similar in that we often got in good positions but then failed to convert. Their defence was a bit iffy and we were almost walking through it at times in the first half, so it was disappointing not to take any of the chances to move us away from the bottom. Nice bit of timewasting late on from their keeper to ignore the ball by the goal and collect one by the corner flag and then walk all the way to the other side of the 6-yard box to his less favoured side for a goalkick.
I was looking away when the red card challenge went in, so cannot give an opinion on that. However, I did happen to overhear snippets of a few comments by the player who was sent off (who I now know to be Scott Davies) when he was standing in the tunnel. The gist seemed to be that he was not very impressed with the ref's performance throughout the game and did not think it was a red card, but unfortunately it happpened right by their bench which had an influence on the ref. I hope I have not misrepresented him as I only overheard bits!
Disappointing to read City fan's comments above, which help explain why it took so long to restart the game. I would add that a sliding tackle which takes the ball could still be dangerous depending on the nature of the follow through. I didn't see it so I have no idea if it was reckless even if he did get the ball.

Firstly the positives - Fleety and Henderson were fantastic, Winters offered some great deliveries when he got on and I think if he had played more than Louis would have got his goal. Louis was strong and put in a great shift however I don’t think him and Fondop complement each other. Both very similar players and Louis has a lot more to offer than Fondop in my opinion. We didn’t concede which is progress and we had a lot of very good chances… Giles had a double effort cleared off the line in the first half and Roberts had a few clear cut opportunities and I was glad that he showed his frustration after being subbed as it shows that he cares about his performance.
Negatives – We didn’t score despite a lot of opportunities. Decision making was quite poor and final ball was often forced into areas rather than into the feet of our wide players. Roberts and Giles with the ball at their feet are menaces, as are Kynan and Winters when on the field so it grates me to see us putting the ball in behind all the time. Gives defenders an easy life and just wastes a lot of energy chasing down lost causes. Scotty being sent off was needless, Scott’s an intelligent player and the challenge irrespective of whether he got the ball or not was unnecessary at that point in the game when he picked up a very stupid yellow in the first half. Which in the eyes of some referee’s would have been a straight red, he’s a leader and talks a lot of the players through the game so will be a huge miss on the field.
We are slowly getting there and im sure there are points on the horizon. Thankful that Fondop and Poku managed to get to the game safe and sound but they arrived 10 minutes before Kick Off so that’s probably why they weren’t in the initial 11.
Racism at any game is out of order and I hope this was raised to the officials.
