Oxford City made it through to the Over 40's County Cup Final last night with an emphatic 5-0 win away to Old Hooky. After the disappointment the week before at Kidlington, they bounced back with some entertaining football.
From the start, City dictated play, and it wasn't long before the first crucial goal came. Mike Ford's corner on 12 minutes was flicked on at the near post by Shaun Bradbury for Wayne Holden to slot home from 6 yards. 5 minutes it was 2-0, after Mark Orlando's shot was parried by the Old Hooky keeper into the path of Paul Spittle who calmly slotted the ball home.
HALF-TIME: Old Hooky 0 Oxford City 2
Old Hooky came out of the blocks in the 2nd half, and really gave it a go, and began to cause City a few problems. An excellent Colin Fleet save was crucial, as the next goal was vital, and it came from City mid way through the half. Ronnie Williams shot was blocked on the line, only for Paul Spittle to pounce and get his second. The fourth goal came with 10 minutes remaining after some good play down the left hand side by Orlando & Williams giving Paul Kimber the easiest chance he'll ever get??? The fifth and final goal came a few minutes later after a neat back heel from Kimber set up Paul Spittle to slot home and complete his hat-trick.
FINAL SCORE: Old Hooky 0 Oxford City 5 (Holden, Spittle 3, Kimber).
Team: Colin Fleet, Robert Tutton, Julian Dark, Justin Lee, Paul Kimber, Mark Orlando, Mike Ford, Shaun Bradbury, Ronnie Williams, Paul Spittle, Wayne Holden. Subs: Simon Pagano, Paul Creed.
The final takes place at Abingdon Town next Wednesday 12th May against Chinnor who beat Ducklington last night in the other semi 3-1, kick-off 7.45PM.
