A Partnership has been set up between OCFC, OUFC and Oxford City council to secure the future of City, and to allow United a permanent base throughout the week. More on this: Click Here

What an interesting development: good to start the New Year on a potentially very positive note.

This seems like great news, especially on top of our recent good performances. Onwards and upwards!

What an interesting development, and one which will help both clubs move onwards and hopefully upwards! The benefits to be gained by a genuine partnership such as this, especially the 3/4 G pitch scheme will revolutionise everything and can only help to gain supporters who have been lost over the years. Perhaps there can be some discount arrangements on a mutual basis for fans to attend each other's fixtures? Having noted the problems OUFC have had re training facilities this all makes a lot of sense. I look forward to hearing more about this as talks proceed. Well done so far!

Certainly an interesting development. Both clubs have there own immediate problems and both clubs hold the potential solution to the other clubs problems which makes it a very intelligent arrangement.
It also seems like the council who of course have blocked Uniteds ambitions so far have had a word in someones ear which has helped broker this agreement.
The two niggling concerns for me is this 'donation'....its more than likely a decent amount and will ultimately be held against us in the future if any friction comes about between the two clubs.
Also Brian said at the last supporters meeting that oxford United would be a last resort to save City. Ive always assumed he meant a total take-over and while this is clearly not it....it does sound like a half-way house. Does this mean the other potential investors have fallen through or is this just part of a grander plan all round?
I presume that seat on the board is being kept warm for Justin/Paul or someone else at City rather than an OUFC mole....right?
Exciting times none the less and at least it seems we are going to have a club to support for the forseeable!!! COYHs!!!

That was months ago and, as I recall, he was just talking about the very early deal that was on the table at the time. A lot of talking with with groups will have happened between then and now.

It was our last meeting so only November...not exactly months ago...but we are talking football/business terms so a month is a long time granted

Donation to a charity is precisely that. You cant do any deals with a football club long term unless you expect them to be around for the foreseeable future. As we have been told all parties wishing to invest have had discreet but open access to accounts, clubs situation etc. interesting comparison to Solihull who did a similar deal with Birmingham City for their u21s and Ladies team, This was quickly followed by a sponsorship deal with Auto-tech. So I would say this may not be the end of matters, but merely the end of the beginning. And I wish Justin all the best in his new duties, hes got off to a Sterling start.

I've heard a rumour that two Japanese blokes are considering investing in City but I can't back it up with any evidence - anyone heard anything?

I've heard a rumour that two Japanese blokes are considering investing in City but I can't back it up with any evidence - anyone heard anything? Brian has spoken about them a few times at supporters meetings. Some Japanese firm who Justin has dealt with a lot in the past - apparently they have spent a fair bit just looking into the deal which seems to indicate they are pretty serious about it.
