Don't forget the Prince of wales pub near Farnborough north station if you like your real ale, come out of the station and the turn left at the the top of the road, a choice of 10 real ales, 5 regulars and 5 ever changing guest beers. p.s. do you still have that lady who schreeches "come on citttyyyyyyy" at the top of her voice? ;D

That's worth knowing, although the nature of the evening kick-off means most our drinking will have to come on the train. Is it 8pm kick off? How close is the Station from the ground?

come on then, wheres all the hype for the big farny away trip.
we beat them there last year and im sure we can do it again, theres something about our away performances on weekdays, we always seem sharp.
will be good to play in front of a good crowd (should be 650/700 i'd have thought even for a weds night), hope the choir can make it as they make a difference on the terraces.
Buzzing for this one, i'll have 2-1 to City, goals from Andy Gunn and Mark Janes.

Hahaha, just looking on their forum - looks like Claire & Hugh will be sorely missed!
Hoping to get 4 or 5 of us boys down but it just depends on travel arrangements, what with it being a week night.

I finish work at half 5. All depends on Potta tbh. Could easily get a car full of us down there if he finishes on time.

Disappointed by the result - be interested to read people's views.
Nice to see Claire and I are so fondly remembered on the Farnborough site, especially as it's two years since we were last there. Last year, being, shall we say, 'disappointed' by the way travelling officials get treated at Farnborough, we stayed behind in Oxford to do the Nomads gate. That's probably why they describe me as 'Bill Bailey' - my hair isn't that long any more.
Anyone who travelled on both Saturday and today would have been able to compare and contrast Stourbridge's 3-sided stadium with Farnborough's - do you still have to pay several pounds to park in a three-foot deep pothole? And are they still convinced they're playing several leagues below what they 'deserve'?
Two years ago, after we played there in Div One South and West, one of their committee said patronisingly as we left 'I don't expect we'll be playing you again for a long time'.... but we're still in the same division. Maybe they'll win it this year....

Maybe they'll win it this year.... Good turn out by the home fans, still an essentially empty stadium though. Stark contrast to our ground and Stourbridges. It's just a bit ridiculous really. They're expanding too? I dunno, it was £7 to get in...didn't have to pay to park. Only 5 of us made it away, and I'm pretty sure that was it in terms of city fans. Gets a bit depressing when it's literally all we can muster up to take away. No noise at home, pityful attendance away. In terms of the match, city never wanted it in the first half. Early goal conceeded but well taken by Farnborough. Second goal was a deflected free kick, can't really be helped. City just looked scared to made the commitment. Farnborough are a big team, in terms of the fact that their players, generally speaking, outsize all of the city boys and tend to just muscle them off the ball a lot. Second half saw city want the ball a lot more. Good tactical changes by Fordy and exposing Farnborough down the wings and keeping possession were some good points to take away. We could have easily lost by more but there's no doubt we could have potentially equalised in the second half.

5 of 'the choir' , plus a few more of us dotted about the place, so probably 20 at the most, still not great though granted.
mind you, the majority of the Farny fans were silent, and the ones down the side stand in the second half were like the old gits from the muppet show, bleating about the referee and cards all second half.
v.disappointed with Farnborough, they always seem to be going well in the league but whenever we play them they underwhelm me, they looked clueless in the 2nd half and i couldnt pick a player of theirs that i'd want, even the usually awesome(for didcot) Jack King looked like a spectator

I don't think you can ask for more than a handful of away fans - considering it's a week before christmas, freezing cold and snowing, a mid-week! fair play to those that went though - loyal supporters!

I'm sure the weather and timing affected the attendance all round - their smallest crowd of the season by some 300, which can't solely be explained by a small away support.
One of the things about our fans is that they tend to stand dotted around the ground rather than together, and often aren't very vocal.
There must be a reason for having games the midweek before Christmas, but I can't think what it is. There must be a possibility of a low crowd on Saturday too.

I think Hugh's spotted the 'problem' there. Apart from the 'Honorary Students'/'The Choir' there is no large group of supporters who cluster together - and there hasn't been since the early days back at CPF when 'Wiggy', Mick, Colin, Gordon etc used to congregate behind the goal. That said, I don't think OCFC do worse in that respect than the majority of Step 3 (and below) sides. Of course it would be nice to have a larger fan base, but, Cup/Trophy matches apart, I suspect that OCFC are just not going to get >300 on a regular basis. I don't mean to sound pessimistic - simply realistic. But looking on the positive side - the crowds are still better on average now than they were in the last few years at The White House. There were quite a few sub-100 Isthmian League gates in the mid-'80s.
