For the loyal supporters that go to home and away games yesterday's team display was a shambles Mark got it all wrong to make those changes and that does not go down well we expect the best team he can put out not what he did yesterday what encouragement is there for us to turn up and watch that rubbish as the caretaker manager he did himself no favours

Regardless of the outcome, that is the right thing to do at this stage of the season. You say you expect the 'best team he can put together' - that would be the team that got thumped 6-1 by Maidenhead. It would also look quite similar to the teams that shipped 6 at home to Hungerford and 4 at Welling. Naming the same side every week would be easy but what would anyone be learning from that? What would players like Forde, Essuman, Demuria, Peake, Khawaja and Anderson gain sat on the bench? If we are going to have young players at the club then we need to be using them, and sometimes that won't work out.

There'll be no progress without risk-taking, and in his post-match comments Mark was honest and took the blame for one that 'got away'. I hope, within reason, he won't be put off further experimentation as the season winds down.

Mark will have learnt quite a lot from this, including which players keep battling when the chips are down, and which ones ease off. In that context, all credit to captain Poku who never gave up (as usual).
And let's take nothing away from Hampton, who gave a very good all-round display and certainly looked one of the better teams we have faced this season.
Still, if I were basing my squad choice for next season on those performances from City yesterday, I have to say there aren't many I'd be wanting to keep. Fortunately for them, Mark knows they can play better than that, and they have a few more matches in which to show what they can do. Chelmsford next week will be another good test of their ability and stomach for a fight.
On a different but connected note, I think one reason for our lack of rhythm for much of the season has been that the team keeps changing. We have used over 40 players already. No wonder a few yesterday didn't seem to know where (or who?) their teammates were. There have been reasons for this, of course, but I hope that next season -- assuming we have a next season -- there will be a more consistent line-up.

Jonah's post-game comments are almost always spot on - he gives credit and criticism where it is due and applies the same level of scrutiny to his own performance. Assuming he wants to, I think it would be a travesty if he didn't stay on next season.

Trying out players is OK within the squad On Merrit. Yes we have 4 games left I would hope we will put a proper team out against Margate at least maybe even take a half decent squad to Gosport. 275 was it yesterday. I did not come out for the second half. If we want to keep people interested I must agree with the OP. Oh not a shot on target. A reasonable side we dispensed 3-1 at their place nothing to right home about took us to pieces.

Glad you agreed with me OWH we go home and away not just the home games or watching from afar you all know that certain players will not be here next year and the loan players will not what is the scents in putting a youth player into a game against a strong team as Hampton the gap is just to big if you are going to try these players out bring them on as subs not make whole sale changes that will do them no good at all and not a good way to get people though the gates

Did not go,but if your on about me Relieved. Amazing what you can do with the best of what you have. Church not playing mids must have been a bonus, as he was a right handful at their place. Still mathematically safe now, and not on the balance of probabilities.
