I'll start a thread thanking Shep for all he's done to keep the City going through a number of tough seasons. I hope you can just enjoy the football now, John!

Absolute respect for the man - a self-effacing gentleman of a largely bygone era who is an example to us all.

John has been one of the most loyal servants the club has ever had. Without him, and a few others, there would not be a City club to follow, after the enforced departure from the White House Ground in 1988. He gave an interview about this and other aspects of his long involvement in the club on BBC Oxford after the match on Saturday, which I listened to on my way home. I would like to wish him all the best for the future.

Absolutely correct and I echo all the above comments, he is from a breed of volunteers, in an unpaid role, just got on with the job, never complained and just got on with the job in good times and the bad times, unselfish and very hard working individual, deserves all the plaudits and good wishes from anyone connected with the club and from outside it, the club and all clubs need more people like Shep, but these types of good 'dinosaurs'from a hard working era are becoming an extinct breed and that is a real shame and football will be lost and a different space without these kind of people

Yes a fantastic servant to Oxford City FC. Great commitment over a long period of time in various roles at the club and playing a key role in keeping the club going in darker days!
