Oxford City kicked off their FA Youth Cup campaign this evening winning by the odd goal in eleven(!). The goals for The Hoops were scored by Dan Collins (2) and Henry Landers (4). City went 1-0 down, before going 2-1 up, before then going behind again 3-2 at the break! They then scored 3 unanswered goals to make it 5-3 before Basingstoke then equalised again taking it to 5-5, with The Hoops then finishing it late on to win 6-5!
Congratulations to all involved on a superb result, and credit must also go to visitors Basingstoke who more than played their part in a fantastic spectacle.
City now travel to Didcot Town for the 1st Qualifying Round, which is due to be played week commencing 18th September!

Same score (if I remember rightly) as a few years back when City, with the two Marks (Janes and Bell) beat Fleet in the FAYC: that was some match as well.
Well done to the Youth. Perhaps the start of another good run?
Also well done to the Ladies on Sunday, whose 9-0 win in the FAWC seems to have missed a mention on the main website: they are at home to Alton LFC in the next round.
