I'll be first - referee, utterly embarrassing. How many yellow cards? and when he should have booked the H&R number six for a second time, for what was a booking, he chickened out - pathetic. The game itself was all about the H&R keeper for me. A brilliant save from Pato in the first half, two further good save from him in the second and his finger tip save in the last second gave them a point. Apart from a free kick I can't remember them even hitting the target (maybe a header) but Jack had everything covered. They were big and strong but kept pumping the ball forward, Oastler especially dealt with everything. On another day, Pato would have had another couple, Sinclair at least one and there was definitely a penalty call when we shot and their defender threw himself to ground and blocked with his arms. Deserved more imho

Totally right, Shutler. Quite the worst ref we've had all season -- four harsh bookings for us while fouls and handballs on the other side were going unpunished. But the boys were professional and did not let it affect them. I thought the first half was pretty scrappy as we were slow out of the blocks, and then both teams cancelled each other out. Apart from that fine save from Pato (and the resulting corner from which Joe headed just wide) there were no real chances at either end.
The second half was a different story -- fine end-to-end football. Hampton were on top at first but City created more chances in the last half hour and should have scored, Pato's drive thumping the post being the closest we came until the last minute when the keeper and crossbar spared the blushes of a defender and prevented an own goal. So, a bit frustrating for us not to win, but these were opponents who had just won eight on the trot and we made them look ordinary. There were some very good second half performances from most of our players. I was particularly impressed with Freddie, who won the ball with at least three perfectly timed tackles, and who looks a different player now from the one wearing that shirt two or three months ago. Cristian Navarro is also growing into that central defensive role more and more, so much so that if he continues like this it isn't going to be easy for Lee Henderson to get his place back when he recovers. On the down side, all these bookings are going to result in some suspensions soon, and the squad is light; also, as far as I remember we were told the loans of Jack Stevens and Christian Oxlade-Chamberlain come to an end when the year ends.
As I commented a few weeks ago, this remains a very tight and competitive division. The top five are, unusually, all level on points and the top 11 or 12 will all go into the second half of the season with a real chance of the play-offs if they can just find some consistency. But that isn't easy when the teams near the bottom, like ourselves, are this good and quite capable of beating them. Today only Hungerford (and, more predictably, Whitehawk) lost from the bottom pack. We are halfway through now and still very much in that relegation battle, so these next two matches against Gloucester are crucial.

Not being one known to be openly critical of officials This guy was in a little world of his own, except with his constant Arguments with the lino over decisions. History tells me he will be promoted to next level next season after getting his booking quota up to scratch for fouls that in many cases just did not happen. Our team could have had their heads down with an idiot refereeing but they showed great character all round, and Pato was unlucky with the post very good challenge on Sinc by a defender saved them from being two down, then You had the comedy at the end where the keeper was like a snake, half his body going one way to stop the deflection from the defender and his long arm which seemed to auto extend to tip it onto the bar with his legs akimbo in other direction, gymnasium stuff. A little word about stuff going on whilst excepting when they play fair they are a very good side. Many of their players made Kynan Isaac look like a Saint and at least 4 deserved Oscars for falling over. Must mention Jack Stevens good saves again!

Yes, I seem to remember it was one of those theatrical falls which got Joe Oastler booked. But Zac's was a travesty. He was attacking, with the ball at his feet, and the defender blocked him. They collided. Any other ref would wave play on. Maybe give City an indirect for obstruction.
This was not a dirty match at all. We've had more physical games than that, where there was only one booking. To put seven in your book suggests the guy is seriously lacking in Christmas spirit.

Not sure on that one, a 50/50 which they both had a right to go for but due to the extravagant scream from the defender was given Hamptons way
