This morning I thought City would lose 1-2 but when it came to a prediction on here I thought I shouldn't be that pessimistic! So I went for the draw. But Whitehawk are not the team we brushed aside early in the season. They have picked up two away wins on the bounce now, have made new signings and are beginning to play some good football. City invariably play less well in the matches they are expected to win, so I saw a banana skin coming.
Jonah was very low in the post match interview and Kieran in his Radio Oxford report, but I thought we were better than we were against Gloucester a couple of weeks ago. Craig King had a great debut and kept us in it with a string of good saves, Connor Stevens did well in his first full match and the defence in general played well. Godfrey battled as ever, despite a head injury, and there were some good touches and passes throughout the match. But the Hawks were quicker and more urgent, and we lacked penetration up front. We were clearly missing Rob Sinclair. (Why was he out?)
The other thing I don't understand is why we are playing a left winger in the middle or down the right, and placing a right midfielder on the left wing! Yes, Pearce can cut inside when on the right, but he is at his best going outside his man. He is a far better crosser of the ball than Oxlade-Chamberlain, and McEachran doesn't even attempt crosses. I just don't think we are playing to our strengths. Zac and Matt were below their best today, partly because Rob was away and partly because of the lack of service from the wing. Jonah says he doesn't want to analyse the game technically in a post-match interview, but I think most fans would welcome some knowledge of his game plan at the start.
That said, he has achieved so much in the past 13 months and we owe him a debt of gratitude. City were on the brink of disaster in the autumn of 2016 but this season we have had memories to last for years. I've said all along this relegation battle will go down to the wire and I still believe that. There are a lot of competent teams battling for survival. I just hope we pick up some points in the next few matches because after that they get tougher, and we finish by playing two teams below us!

As poor as a be seen us play I’m afraid. We let ourselves down in games against teams around about us in the league. Whitehawk were poor and we didn’t match them!
Changes really didn’t help us and in losing Sinclair we lost all our creativity going forward.
Awful result, we should have pulled away from the relegation battle by now but have let ourselves down in our last two home games.
