So only a few more days till the opening day. What are your thoughts for the upcoming season? No Steele for the new campaign, but with the new signings Fordy's brought in I'm confident that City will make up for the loss of one of the best strikers in the league last year.
Looking at pre-season, it seems like the side is coming together well, and there's a definite backbone surrounded by creative flair. As long as it can stay together, I don't see why City can't push for a top half/play off spot. Unlike last season, I think there's enough strength in depth in the squad to allow for a couple of injuries. May be a different story if a key player has a long term set back.
How do you think City will do this year? What you expecting from Saturday's match?

I think we will be in contention for Play-offs next season.
Ive only seen one game in the build up to this season, which was the United game but from what I saw and have read about the other friendlies I think we have a better, more creative team than last season.
As someone said to me at said united game, Steele leaving maybe a good thing. As good as he was at goal scoring, we used him far to much as our target man and outlet. He didn't have the height to beat any defenders in the air and though he had the ability to bring the ball down defenders were onto him in seconds before he could do anything else with it....it was like we had him as our Plan A and no plan B.
This season is a different proposition and I think Fordy has done well over the summer. My old man spoke to him over the summer during the WC and he said his aim was to strengthen the squad but also bring players inline interms of pay which is an ovious attempt to quell egos and get the team playing for each other which can only be a good thing.
City can be more than match for any team in this division and with the new signings already looking good in there respective roles, im expecting to see a City team that is very good and very fast on the counter attack with a a 3 maybe 4 pronged attack from the wings and through the middle. I have also noticed city are now taking pot shots from outside the box when the space opens up....im a fan!
The goalkeeping situation does remain a concern though, the fact we have our goalkeeping coach in goal is hardly going to fill the defence with confidence. The other issue is and its soemthing I noticed in the United game is that we are also quite a short team so there is going to be a significant aireal threat to us from many teams through the season. I also hope this year we can acturally close a game out.
All in all im looking forward to the new season and hope we can start it off with a bang and show the rest of the league we mean buissness on Saturday.

Bit worrying that Paul Davies had to step in again at Horsham. Can we have some clarity with this one ahead of Saturday? A agree with you Hedges, this is a concern.
