Mickey Lewis, a legend at Oxford United, who played 40+ matches for City in 2000 and 2001 seasons and who had a number of coaching connections at Marsh Lane has died at the age of 56. Our thoughts are with his friends and family R.I.P.

I remember Mickey playing for us towards the end of his long career. Even at 36, his strength and enthusiasm were notable; he was one of those players who stick in your mind. Strangely, I was thinking of him very recently. He will be much missed - a hard act to follow. Many condolences to his wife and son, who are in our thoughts and prayers.

Yes horrible news to learn yesterday and no age at all.
I shared a story on Twitter that around 10 years ago we were playing in a charity tournament representing City and came up against an Oxford United legends side containing Mickey, I was ‘a little bit late’ on a tackle on him and he laughed his head off and seemed to take it in good spirits, but rest assured the next 50/50 ball that came along he came in as though it was a tackle in an FA cup final and sent me flying, which just showed off his competitive side even in a fairly meaningless match
