Can't I'm afraid...
Fingers crossed you get there this week!
Tricky match, I think they'll win 1-0 with a lucky late strike... (Working on my predictions are normally the opposite to what the actual score is so it should be 1-0 win for City with a stunning early strike).

After losing their opening match (0-3 at home to Chesham), they've gone three games unbeaten, nicking a late winner at Evesham to win 4-3, drawing 1-1 on the road to Bedford, and most recently a fairly comfortable 2-1 win at home to Bashley on Tuesday night, notching up 7 points and currently sitting 7th in the league at this early stage.
Interestingly, of the seven goals they've scored in the opening four games, they've all come from different players: Smith, McConnell, Jeannin, Watkins, Ash, Taylor and Afful.
They definitely concede a goal (shipping eight already), its just whether we've got the fire power to get two that I think will be necessary to win there.
Unfortunately none of us will make it this weekend. Festivals and other bank holiday plans take priority, but hoping to kick start our season on the road with the short trip to Swindon the following weekend.
C'mon lads, get a win under your belts!!!

Looking forward to FF today, will be good to hear how Belly and Pondy are progressing, why Janesy wasn't involved in the week (one can suspect injury, will he be fit for one or both of this weekends games?) and how long Ballard and McIllwain will be out for.
Any idea if Lyon is back from suspension for tomorrow?
Got be looking for at least 4 points this weekend.

Really?! What's the F**k is going on with this football club?! First Brooksy and Ollie now Janesy? Strip the club to the bare bones to save cash? Rely on free loan signings?

Although it's bad news to be losing Janesy it goes along with the old saying "no player is bigger than the club", we learnt that in the past with the likes of Ray Spence.
It seems this has come about after he was dropped (to the bench, not from the squad) for the Weymouth game.
The better thing to have done would've been to show exactly how good he was when he came off the bench and get his self back into the starting line-up, theres no use getting upset over not starting the game, nobody in football at any level has a devine right to start in every game, that includes the likes of Wayne Rooney right down to City's level.
Don't get me wrong, it is a big loss to the club, he's rated highly by the other supporters i've spoken to, but i think it's wrong to completely blame Fordy on this occasion.
We're thin on the ground at the moment, don't forget we've got Mcillwain,Ashton,Ballard,Lyon,Bell,Pond to return so thats 6 players, I'm sure we'll bring in at least 1 or 2 players to help us out whilst we get everyone fit.
On the subject of Ford Focus, haven't recieved anything yet and with the team travelling down to Truro we may not get an update this week, from what i know, Mcillwain should be fit for Truro, Ballard maybe 3 weeks away, Belly is going all-out to get himself back to fitness, Ashton was doing some fitness work on the pitch on Tuesday so can't imagine he'll be too long & i think Michael Lyon begins a county suspension from this weekend.
Haven't heard anything about Darren Pond recently, heres hoping he'll be back soon, he'd give us a massive boost.

Might be worth putting up a bit on the site saying that there won't be a FF this week. People get annoyed when there's no info shared with the fans, and not everyone goes on here. Just a thought.
Cheers for the info though.
I agree with you re: no player is bigger than the club, but with the loss of three players in a week, it seems a bit fishy don't you think? At every level you're gonna get personalities and hot heads, its up to the manager to deal with them. With three key players leaving in the space of a week, it seems that Fordy's method is to show them the door....

On the bright side, not much else can acturally go wrong, unless of course we lose these 2 weekend games.....but then we can look at it and say, well NOW it can't get any worse . Brooksy was a big lose but he was made of glass, its a shame for him as in another world he would be playing League football if it wasn't for his long term health problems. but as it is he is a qaulity player at this level so he will probably proof a loss to us....but he did spend most of last season on the bench/physio room anyway. The same goes for Janesy which of the 3 I think will be the biggest lost,he can score goals and play up front and has shown can be a real handful for defences. As for ollie, I didn't see him enough to form a solide opinion, but from what I did see (united game and Bedford), he wasn't anything really special and clearly has some attitude problem. which is bad for a the team anyway, could be a let off in many ways. My personal opinion is that there is some friction backroom as shown by the exit of Janes,Brookes,Ollie and lets not forget Gunny at the end of last season...but its upto the players in the dressing room (particularly Sav, Malone, being the captain and other senior players) to say something to Fordy if they feel something is a miss or his handling of soemthing is not right,to stand up and be counted and if nessary take one for the rest of the team if it means a happier backroom. Looking forward to the Brackley game on Monday...assuming we can field a team

an interesting point in fordys method. are you involved in meetings between players and management and aware exactly what is said. if not why not speculate on other things rather than assuming its a managers way of dealing with players. if players dont want to play for a club why should a manager beg as some have put a player to stay and risk them becoming lazy and thinking they are gods gift to the southern league. some of the posters need to get a realty check on their postings. i know its all about opinions but come on.

OK, beg is too strong a word, but you get my point. If its a difference between keeping them and letting them go, then sometimes you have to make changes to your methods. It's the same with any team or company, the manager should want to keep the best people for the job. If one of the key members decides they want to move on, you should try your best to keep them.

are you involved in meetings between players and management and aware exactly what is said[?] if not why not speculate on other things rather than assuming its a managers way of dealing with players. That's the thing, we can only speculate, and that's exactly what we're doing. It's a discussion forum and as we don't have an inside line to the dressing room, we can only speculate about what we think is happening. When a football club gets rid of three players in a week, don't you think the fans have a right to speculate?

a good reply but as i put how do you know Fordy did not do that anyway. what is said between players and management we dont and shouldnt know. how many managers or players at many levels have quit because of messageboards or newspapers. as for mark janes being the difference between mid and top table you really are having a laugh. one player at his level. please. i repeat reality check.

It was the flippancy of the quote that got my grate: “I don’t want him to go, but what can you do?". Like it's out of his hands and there's nothing he can do. I know, I know, we shouldn't speculate (and as you say, it's not fair on the managers - not that they should really care about what some nerds on a messageboard think!) but that quote on top of losing two players last week, and not winning a game yet, just really annoyed me. Not to mention that I think Janesy is a good player and great lad. Obviously we'll never get to the bottom of what happened so maybe instead of speculating we should let sleeping dogs lie.

Looking forward to the Brackley game on Monday...assuming we can field a team They're only taking 12 outfield players according to the Oxford Mail, with Holman and Barcelos starting on the bench, I'd imagine.

indeed, honestly though id be more worried if it was Sav,Malone or Clarke going to a rival club at this level. if a club a couple of divisions above came sniffing around thats different as its a reward on the part of the players for hard work paying off.
Fordy said during the summer he wanted a team that was closer and played much more for each other, which to me says he's also after players with a particular commited attitude, maybe these players could provide the skill but not the attitude that fordy wants.....Oille threw his shirt off after being subbed at chesham, hardly the attitude of a team player to me, regardless of how badly the team played that night....
Only time will tell if Fordy has made the wrong approach and im sure he'll be the first to admit errors in judgement.

Good stuff, cheers Padz. Fordy seems very positive and is saying strong and positive things about his squad, which is what everyone wants to here. So important to get a win now. Glad Janesy told Didcot to stick it, and Fordy seems to have welcomed him back. He is an important member of this season's squad.
