Not many have made it in the past (and very few do now), but Reece Fleet is approaching a milestone for Oxford City 1st XI. Assuming no injuries (and that the Manager picks him ) next weekend's visit to Ebbsfleet will see him become only the 21st player in the Club's history to reach 300 appearances. Reece made his debut for the Club over a decade ago when he was a member of the side that drew 1-1 with Redditch United in a Southern League match on August 13th 2011.

Certainly a wonderful achievement from a very loyal club player who has also managed to get better and better as the years have passed. Reece oozes quality. The programme yesterday, however, lists his appearance total as 267 prior to that match, including cup competitions. Where have the other 30 appearances come from, I wonder?

Just to clarify regarding the player stats in the programme, the player appearances are in the format of starts(sub apps) and so the two numbers need to be added together for total appearances. I will add a note in all the remaining programmes to outline this as I realise that I didn’t add this detail at the start of the season! Since the programme went to print, I have been in contact with Chris to ensure that all numbers are correct with the approaching landmarks, and we did discover a few discrepancies which is why Reece will be hitting it a few games earlier than the programme suggests. (Corrected in the next issue of course!)

And still another 13 games (if City get to the OSC Final) this season to lift him further up the appearances list. 13 would bring Reece level with Justin Lee.

Always good to get Chris to check the stats!
The appearances total for Nana Owusu also looks a bit light to me, given that he has been playing for us since 2018-19 I think, when he was our top scorer. I wonder if that is one of the discrepancies?

I wonder if that is one of the discrepancies? After Tuesday's match Nana Owusu has 39 starts; 35 more appearances from the bench; and has scored 16 goals.

Congratulations to Reece on reaching his 300th - just a pity it wasn't celebrated with a victory.

300 is a very good figure to reach nowadays when players do move around very regularly. In fact, I wonder if any City player will reach that landmark again. The nearest 'contender' at present, but still with a considerable way to go, is Zac McEachran. However, Zac is now only 4 short of making it to the momentous 200-mark, so should reach that goal at Dulwich Hamlet on 09/04.
