Klaidi Lolos has signed a two-year contract for League 2 Crawley Town. He scored 20 goals in 43 appearances for the 1st XI.
Good luck to Klaidi as he makes the step up.

Was hoping Klaidi would still be with us for this season. May it go well for him - a talented player.

An odd one, scored some goals, had the tools to be half decent but never really set the world on fire, I would’ve seen him struggling for games at national league level so am surprised he’s made it into the EFL.

Crawley, my home town team, have no money and have been looking to non-league to bolster their squad. Lolos may actually turn out to be a good signing for them, but I am glad Crawley didn't come for Zac, Reece, Josh x2, Canice..........

I think most of the above will have had lots of offers from various bigger teams and higher leagues but thankfully decided to stay. Get the impression that the squad is very tight. Haigh described it as like playing with a bunch of mates. Would imagine they also like the way Ross is as a manager and wants to play. It's quite astonishing really that all our key players and the vast majority of the squad stayed. The club should be congratulated for that. It must of been a lot of work behind the scenes for all involved. Klaidi could do well for Crawley he's got pace, technical ability and is a great striker of the ball. He's better than other strikers that have gone into the league like TBA or Mike Fondop. It was his decision making that needed development. Suspect Crawley prized him away because he wasn't a starter, so not as content as some of the others, and he's a South London lad.

Suspect Crawley prized him away because he wasn't a starter, so not as content as some of the others, and he's a South London lad. Absolutely right! The other thing is, City are still part-time, whereas the offers will mostly have come from full-time clubs, so there's a lifestyle change there, too. Many players would want that, but if you're happy in your job (as I believe some of those named are) or in the later stage of your career and thinking of the future (e.g. Reece, Josh P) you may think it's not that clever to give it up for one or two uncertain seasons battling for a team place against strong competition. As for Klaidi, you're right there, too. He has all the ability and he did have a good scoring ratio for us. Probably should have played a bit more often, but it was his decision-making - so often he chose to beat his man twice, and by then the opportunity had gone. He needs to pull the trigger a bit sooner. No doubt Crawley will work on that and I wouldn't be surprised if we hear of him playing regularly and getting goals there, much as Mike Fondup has since he left us. I think Klaidi just needs to become a real team player and a little less of an individual star, and at City everyone works for the team.

I think you are right on both fronts. City are about the team. David Oldfield used to use the word collective remorsefully. Ross doesn't but it's clear that it is all about that collective endeavour.
As you also indicate choices made by players are often more holistic. For the young lads who have recently stepped down from full time football academies, like Kabby,or George Harmon, or even Ewan Ckark the lure of the higher leagues is strong. For the older players and those with Oxford connections it's a more complicated picture. Klaidi is very much in the former camp.
He also represents another on an increasingly long conveyor belt of young players who have dropped down to us and bounced back up into the higher leagues. It's a USP the club obviously wants to cultivate. The Off the line blog recently described our player acquisition model as bringing in young hungry players with something to prove and Ross and the club developing them. So it's obviously recognised further afield. I remember Marc White at Dorking also marvelling in one of his many interviews at the quality of our squad considering the budget we probably had. I think the ability to keep a very special, perhaps once in a generation, core and both build and replenish it each year with the right talented hungry young players, has been something of a magical formula in recent years.
