Well, I think yesterday was a bit of a stark reminder that if you are off it in this league, you'll be picked off.
We probably got away with one a bit on Tuesday night rescuing that late point, but sooner rather than later a slow start was going to cost us.
The 4-0 scoreline probably flattered Oldham slightly with it only being 2-0 heading into second half stoppage time, but certainly no complaints about us being comfortably beaten on the day.
As with most games this season, we did improve after the break, but other than a double chance early in the half - their keeper making a stunning save to deny Sanderson - we didn't really create anything or look like scoring, although who knows what would have happened had Sanderson managed to score to halve the deficit.
Haigh will probably feel a bit hard done by to concede the third after making two brilliant saves before Norwood smashed home, but not much you can do about the strikes from range. Despite conceding four, he was probably one of City's best players, making a few great saves. Fleety and Coyley were probably the pick of the bunch for us.
At the end of the day, I don't think anyone expected it to be an easy ride in this league. To go seven games unbeaten is a great achievement, and even though five were draws, it at least showed the side had a hard to beat side to them. But I think all of us knew there'd be a few days like yesterday.
Anyway, hopefully serves as some motivation to put things right on Tuesday night, and if we pick up a result against Gateshead, then we can forget about yesterday!
