A deserved three points for the Hoops today, even if the final score flattered a little, but it probably makes up for other games recently where the margin of defeat didn't quite reflect the performance by City. I was impressed with the two debutants today, with Rafferty Pedder ( on loan from QPR ) looking very promising, but on a couple of occasions he chose to ignore the overlapping Mitchell Roberts to go it alone and squandered the opportunities. Roberts also looked a very decent addition to the squad, and I thought Renny Smith looked much so better in midfield rather than up-front. Good to move out of the bottom four, and with a run of fixtures in November mostly against sides in the bottom half of the table, hopefully City can move to mid-table by Christmas. Here is the usual detailed report for anyone interested fatbearssportingdiaries.blogspot.com/2023/10/oxford-city-3-0-afc-fylde-att-600-est.html

Yes, many thanks for the detailed report Clive. These are the games that City need to win if they're to maintain Step 1 status.

Seems we've earned another manager scalp... AFC Fylde have sacked their manager this afternoon!
Just listened back to his interview from after the game yesterday, and seems to think that our penalty was harsh (despite the fact the replay showed their player getting none of the ball), but of course ignoring the other clear penalty on Zac, and the missed red card on Burley after 10 minutes for a shocking high lunge from a player who seemed to be making his debut. At least that didn't matter in the end, but did think the referee was generally poor yesterday.
But anyway, a great win to break the run of losses, and hopefully something to build on after the FA Cup break.

It was an important win after the recent run. Zac is getting better each game and agree Renny Smith looked good in CM. 3-0 certainly flattered given the balance of play over 90 minutes, but it made up for last Saturday when we weren't clinical at all!
Hopefully, those new signings help to give the squad more rotation across a long season and with the FA Cup this weekend we might be able to see a return from some of our injured players by the Bromley game.
