Well, I think we probably got away with one slightly yesterday. Weren't at the races at all, and wouldn't have been undeserved had we gone out.
Canice really does like digging us out of a hole in the FA Cup right at the death though. Plymouth Parkway last season, and Scarborough yesterday. But at least it's not us with the long journey for the replay on Tuesday night!
Scarborough seemed a strong, physical outlet, and we couldn't cope with them first half in particular, and don't think we really had a meaningful effort on goal until Sanderson scored in the second-half, a typical clinical finish from him. Zac was probably our best player again, he didn't have a great first half, but when we got the ball down in the second-half, like always he looked like the best player on the ball.
The officials however, we absolutely dreadful for both teams really. Complete inconsistency across the ball, early in the first half there were a couple of really bizarre decisions made by the linesman for high boots, then similar incidents not being punished. Then a later on, players being obviously pulled back with play waved on.
For them though, I'm not sure whether Sanderson got away with one late in the first-half for an elbow - we were behind the incident and so couldn't see it clearly, so will be interesting to see the highlights for that one. After the missed red cards against Fylde and Southend in our last two games, maybe nice to get a bit of luck going our way this time around.
Anyway, bring on the draw later on today, and then the replay on Tuesday!

Scarborough fan here, who funnily enough works at Oxford Brookes and commutes down from Yorkshire every week to stay in a house in Headington, within sight of your ground. My two worlds have finally collided!
Anyway, I was at the game yesterday. Obviously we are absolutely devastated not to have held on, and the general feeling is that our best chance has now gone. Saying that, we got a Tuesday replay at Stratford Town a few seasons back and won that, but they were at the same level as us I believe at the time. Your place will be a different prospect.
Thought it was an entertaining game for the neutral, but with surprisingly few chances considering four goals went in.
All bias aside, you are right about Sanderson. From my perspective, it looked a clear elbow, and I think you got away with one big time there. I'm afraid to say I think the incident with the keeper and Dom Tear should also have been a penalty, as it looked from where I was that he missed the ball entirely and punched Tear full in the face (accidentally, of course, but I've seen them given). Happy to be proven wrong on the highlights for both, but we felt aggrieved, especially as Sanderson then scored your first goal.
Fair play to the 25 who made the trip. I'm sorry our away facilities aren't up to scratch at the moment. We are in the process of building new seated and covered accommodation at that end of the ground which should be up and running within the next month, which is why you just had flat hard standing. Due to some unfortunate incidents in previous seasons at big games (where local idiots turned up for their one and only game), we have been instructed that we must enforce strict segregation, even when it's really not required. We'd rather not, but our hands are tied.
Anyway, looking forward to Tuesday. Another opportunity. We'll have anything from 100-150 fans I would have thought, if the Stratford game is anything to go by a few seasons back.

I didn't make the long trip north, but credit to those who did. I did watch the live stream though and was really disappointed with City's performance. They seemed to play the first half as though it was a pre-season friendly, lacking passion, motivation and not fully focused. I cannot recall seeing City play so many wasteful, long hopeful balls. Not until Sanderson scored a well taken goal shortly after going 2-0 down, did City begin to look anything like their normal selves. A last gasp equaliser gives us another chance and hopefully a better performance will result in a home tie versus Forest Green Rovers. I know it's one game at a time , but a win on Tuesday and against FGR would put £50000 into the clubs bank account. Good luck City!

Sadly I will miss the replay but hope its a better game than Saturday's. Watched via the stream. Thought Scarborough did well to stop us playing, and we made the mistake we do once or twice a season of engaging in a long ball battle. Crowd really roared them on too. Good to see another phoenix club so buoyant. Always gutting for the lower league team to lose out on a famous FA Cup result with the last kick, think Notts County for City. However, the live stream commentary was the most partial and and ill informed I can remember. Consequently its worthwhile clearing up a a few points that the stream and highlights have raised and discussed on thus thread. Firstly, that City won a corner right at the end of a minimum of 7 minutes, which seemed short given some of the stoppages, and scored from the resulting corner. No excessive time. Secondly Sanderson's foul was not a raised elbow. I saw nothing at the time or on the replay to suggest so but waited for the highlights to be sure. It was a foul no more and the ref given some of his other decisions thankfully stuck with what he actually saw and not what the crowd claimed they saw. The crowd were extremely hostile to Sanderson at the time and subsequently. So you really have to congratulate him on keeping his head, including scoring a well taken goal, given he's only a teenager. The officials were poor throughout. Learning curve for him. Fleety's yellow followed a dive from Brown that seemed bound to receive a yellow it was so obvious. Mulherne did the same against Smith. Moreover in terms of a sending off soon after Welleji had been booked he threw the ball away right infront of the ref. We know what should have then happened but it didn't. There were also some, what the commentator called 'Yorkshire welcome', tackles, particularly on Zac from behind, that went unpunished. In fairness I forgot to look at the penalty call borough had, as I fast forwarded through much of the 26 minutes of highlights as they were anything but. At the time I couldn't be sure so had a heart in mouth moment until the decision was made. Hopefully better refereeing and football on the floor tomorrow for those in attendance.

The intent was there from Sanderson to hurt Thornton. His elbow was raised, his shoulder made contact (because unlike his goal, he missed), and he never had ANY intent of playing the ball. He was looking at Thornton the entire time. I've seen them given.
Secondly, the goalkeeping punch to the face is sickening on the highlights, and if not a red card, it should be a definite penalty. You can hear the horrid sound of fist to face at 22:20 on the highlights:
On another day, it would have finished 11 vs 9 with a stronger referee.

Overall the seadogs played well and were unlucky not to hold out, in fact when City pushed fairly ineffectively for an equaliser in the last ten you had chances on the counter. It could have easily been goodnight Vienna for the Hoops. But you can't say there was an intent to hurt anybody. Fouling is different from hurting. If you are going to give out Yorkshire welcomes you have to take them. The kids a nice lad and from my perspective your big defender made a right meal of it trying to get him sent off. That really should be frowned on. The penalty could easily of been given. From the two camera angles you can't see for sure whether contact was made in the manner the players reaction indicated, so a call for a sending off seems premature. Haigh looks like he might be punching in front of him. Good refereeing as I said would have seen Brown and Welliji off for two yellows. I think both sets of supporters were frustrated by the officials.

To be honest, I think the referee has got both decisions spot on.
It was silly from Sanderson, but the elbow wasn’t raised, and the contact was underneath his chin. I think it’s a solid yellow card.
The clip of the collision involving Haighy is very inconclusive on the highlights. You can’t actually tell what happened to the ball when the two players started coming together, and so it’s hard to come to a conclusion either way.
But from our angle directly opposite the camera, it did seem that Haigh punched the ball (albeit not cleanly) which is why it span away for a corner. It’s an unfortunate collision afterwards, but he’s got just as much right to challenge for the ball as the attacker.
I know there’s a still image of the collision which doesn’t look great, but this was after the ball had gone, and therefore doesn’t actually paint the full picture of the incident.

Regarding the Haigh punch, Although obviously the lad was in some pain as he was caught, Haigh punched the ball, almost punched through it which sent it behind and as both were after the same ball he unfortunately connected with the player on the follow through , but referee got that 100% correct, obviously the bald striker disagreed so saw a booking for dissent. I will add that I thought the 9 was excellent for Scarborough too, held the ball up and dictated alot to the forward play well.
