As it has been a bit quiet on here for a few weeks I thought it would be good to drum up some enthusiasm for the first pre-season friendly, especially as it is an international fixture !
The good news so far for City is that the midfield "holy trinity" of Zac, Reece and Josh have all signed on for the new season, although it remains to be seen who else will continue for the slog of National League North.
After Ross left to join Boreham Wood, Sam Cox has taken over the hot seat, and my contacts at Wealdstone rated him highly, so hopeful this will turn out to be an inspired appointment.
I will be at the game, and with it being a pay as much as you want game, I will probably hand over £10. I will provide the usual report........

Well, that was an impressive start to the PSFs. I wonder who all the trialists were? Looking forward to Clive's report.
The last time City scored nine in a PSF was way back in 1995 when they beat Banbury United by the same score.

As promised, here is the match report. Barry certainly didn't deserve to lose 9-0 In the first half Barry looked very good going forward, and it could easily have been 3-3 at half-time. However, being a pre-season friendly, they made a lot of changes in the second half, and were certainly a lot weaker and fell apart. We left with 20 minutes to go to get home for the England game when it was 6-0 and City added three more in the last 20 minutes. Oxford City fielded 10 trialists in total and 3 or 4 of them certainly warranted a further look and could well earn contracts for the new season. Numbers 10 and 16 in the first half certainly looked useful, and numbers 9 and 18 deserve a chance to show what they can do against a better defence. I've asked for a list of the Barry team as this wasn't announced and is not currently anywhere on social media, and will update the report if I receive anything fatbearssportingdiaries.blogspot.com/2024/07/oxford-city-9-0-barry-town-united-att.html
