I think we should have a radical change, I think Sam Cox didn't work out, we should change.
If we don't improve soon, we will be relegated for the second year in a row.

I think Sam needs to win on Saturday at home to Needham Market and then against Gosport in the FA Cup otherwise he will need to go.

Forget the FA Cup - it really doesn't matter. Peterborough and Needham are both hovering around the relegation zone, if Project Cox can't beat them (and last night wasn't even close) then the manager has no place in this club.

A Cup exit to a lower league team whilst being bottom of the league would normally prove to be fatal.....

Peterborough and Needham are both hovering around the relegation zone, if Project Cox can't beat them (and last night wasn't even close) then the manager has no place in this club. A Cup exit to a lower league team whilst being bottom of the league would normally prove to be fatal..... Indeed - but what really matters is the league. Failure to deliver a convincing display against Needham should be sufficient evidence to Merritt and co. that they got this one wrong. It shouldn't need to go to the Gosport game, a game that could put a false spin on the situation. I was away for the Chorley game, but have seen all the other home games. What has struck me is the lack of a plan as the side starts each game, and the lack of credible adaptability when things go wrong. This was epitomised on Tuesday when Andrews went off. Cox went to one up front, with Coyle, Potter and Roddy all going for the same balls behind Parker. Ashby, Fleet and McEachran should all be highly effective at this level, but their performances are miles behind what they were delivering two seasons ago. Ashby and Fleet have gone into their shells while McEachran, who has prodigious skill, seems intent on covering the deficiencies of everyone else - and all too often overcooking a move by taking on one too many opponent or running down a blind alley. In each case, those deficiencies could be turned around by clear, strong coaching. Peterborough were no great shakes on Tuesday, but they were strong, organised and played with a clear purpose (and had a real leader on Michael Gash at the back). they wern't pretty, but they were effective and preyed on City's mistakes. At the moment, City lack leadership on the pitch - Carroll is a big loss and others aren't stepping up. The new back three are a disappointment - good stuff in flashes but far too many mistakes. Mitchell is a step up on KML, but I fear he'll be back at Stevenage before long. I don't know what's happened to Burley, but he looked distraught on Tuesday night on the sidelines, and Ezennolim, who pulled up in the Willand warm-up appears to be a walking sick note. We know what we get with Roddy and Carbon has looked promising. Parker is still a wily operator but Andrews poses too much without purpose, and Walsh needs to get a lot cuter quickly to be effective at this level. It could be so much better, I am not confident that Cox knows how. Finally, for those calling for a return of Jenkins, be careful what you wish for. He had a great season culminating with the St Albans win. But in the NL, particularly once he'd lost Sanderson, he was clueless. Forget the five year plan. I would far rather City went for someone with experience in NLN and the nous to turn a year of decline round. there's no point having shiny articulate new coaches if they're plying their trade in the Southern League Central in a couple of seasons' time.

I took Clive to mean we need to win the league game full stop and then back it up in the Cup full stop. Anything less and it's over, win both not just a single win in the league to earn a little time. By that logic if we don't win against Needham there is someone else in the dug-out for Gosport.
Strangely enough they did play well against Chorley and despite comments about the letter of the law, I think that ridiculous sending off probably robbed Sam of a much needed and deserved win. Fine margins as managers always say.
Hope he does turn it round, you never want to see anyone fail but the club's future has to come first and we need to stay at this level. I think it has looked all rather unconvincing for some while now but you just hope you are wrong. The Chorley game did give some hope that might be the case.
I can't be at the Needham game but will be hoping for a positive result.
