City Vets continued their impressive start to the season, maintaining their 100% record with an excellent 2-0 away win at last season's champions Kidlington.
City took the lead after only 5 minutes after Wayne Holden turned his man in the box, and squared to the oncoming Barry Primmer who slotted home from 6 yards. This was the start that we asked for in the changing rooms. The half then really belonged to City, and a couple of good chances from Paul Kimber & Ronnie Williams went begging. Then a fantastic move and delicate chip from Kimber that scraped the outside of the post looked like ending the half with only 1 goal to show, but right on the stroke of half-time City got a second after Justin Lee put a defence splitting pass through to Dave Southam, who kept his nerve to squeeze past Kiddy keeper, Graham Savin, and give City a deserved 2 goal cushion going into the break.
HALF-TIME: Kidlington 0 Oxford City 2.
The message at half-time was to go out with exact the same attitude 2nd half, and continuing playing at the same tempo, and the boys did exactly that, and continued to dominate the game. A couple of early good chances from Kimber & Southam could have killed the game. Kidlington then came into the game mid way through the 2nd half, but the back 4 and keeper, Carl Fisher stood firm, and frustrated the Kidlington forwards, and it was only really with 5 minutes to go when they had there first real effort, as Fisher made an excellent full length save from Fraser Gills. Primmer then had an excellent chance to make it 3-0 in the last minute, after somehow shooting wide from 6 yards after good work from Southam.
Final whistle, and an excellent performance from the boys to keep up our 100% winning record.
