Originally this story came to my attention (and I began to write an article about it) when I wanted to support Summertown FC's campaign against proposed car parking charges. Then I realised that the proposed charges will effect Court Place Farm too. Read more here: www.oxfordcityfans.co.uk/post/2314568101/fans-against-car-parking-chargesJust wondered what your thoughts were about it. As someone that walks to CPF it wouldn't effect me, but obviously for fans that drive and families that bring their children (and want to watch their kids) to play over the weekend, it's gonna cost them to park. Not on really. Just wondered what people thought of this? Why haven't the club let the fans know about this proposed plans? I know it's not their proposals but it would be nice to keep fans in the loop. Any thoughts on the proposals?

If they do go ahead and charge then I'd like to think they'd do some work on it first. It's a mess, pot holes and loose stones/rocks everywhere.
Surely they'd need to set out proper parking bays too?!
I know OXSRAD won't be keen on it either as it may result in people parking in their car park for matches and I know they will lock cars in if they're still in there when they close.

I'm not necessarily against car-park charges - but only if they are not too exorbitant and the Council use at least some of the money raised to keep the car-park in a half-decent condition. However, given the council's recent track record, I wouldn't say that's all that likely! Oxrad will suffer, and the local residents will be none too happy when match days bring an increase in parking in nearby roads. Presumably with the hefty and difficult cuts having to be made in council budgets this is seen as a simple way to make up some of the deficit? It's a shame that it might come just as the long-awaited expansion/improvement of CPF gets off the ground.

With the development of the ground (starting in January), additional parking will be created on the approach to the ground , i'm guessing there wouldnt be a charge to park there?
its simply madness by charging to park at CPF,Cutteslowe etc you're penalising parents bringing kids for kids matches, supporters and even sunday league players too who will have to shell out to park and play
We need to strongly oppose this

and where is this petition?... Being someone that drives to games (living in Chinnor along the M40) this will effect me and many others, its an easy way to make money and as said on the other forum many teams in our league charge for parking...which I don't agree with....but many are privatily owned...which in my opinion makes it worse. If the counsil run our car parks OCFC would ahve no control over the charges. £4 extra tgo watch the game - then another rise in ticket prices (guess £9 - £10 entry next season, assuming of course we stay up) , looks like im going to have to drop my half-time burger just to make the gate .....not happy.

and where is this petition?... It's the Cuttlesowe/Summertown petition in the original post on oxfordcityfans. Should I start a petition for the CPF car park? I don't know if the club will be able to, but as an independent body I certainly can. Without the backing from the club (ie, a post on the website, allowing us to take the petition around the ground on match days) I don't think it'll be worth it.

If we can get all of the managers briefed then they can pass on the info to the parents so I think it would work.

Im kinda thinking having read more on it that I jumped the gun abit.... Seeing as OCFC is on Counsil ground, we are getting a new stadium development which is being partally paid for by a near bankrupt counsil, who im sure would just love to pull the plug on it, if they could. I wouldn't mind paying £1 - £1.50 to park per game, which is what the BBC website seems to be stating (for 1-2 hours)....as long as its not enforced strictly....i.e I can get to the ground 10-15mins before a game, have a beer, watch the game, then have a beer after the game....without fear of being clamped for going 10mins over the 2hours. If however as the Oxford mail report turns out to be correct and they intend to charge £3,£4,£5 per game (2 hours)....then we have a reason to be very very angry.... As also stated if they did bring in charging id also exspect soemthing nicer than a potted mud-patch that we have now. Signed petition anyway

Sure others have had this e-mail. Bad news for grassroots football.....
Any idea if this is a blanket measure across all the proposed sites or just a decision at Cutteslowe? Can't see anything on Oxford Mail website.
Pretty disgraceful really. 600 signatures and a whole heap of arguements pushed aside for the council to make a quid buck. With this new revenue, I'm sure now they can justify letting a few dozen employees go, but that's an arguement for a different time.
How can they justify this stuff?
