The Vets are back in action this week with a County Cup Semi-Final away to 2nd place Old Hooky (at Chipping Norton FC), kick-off 7.45PM. Andy Cooper is the only player not available this week after suffering an horrific injury whilst playing for his Saturday team just before Xmas. He has had 18 stitches in his shin, and will be out for a further 4-6 weeks. Even with Coops missing, I still have a strong squad of 18 to pick from, and have had the unfortunate pleasure of having to leave 2 players out of this important fixture.
Squad: Carl Fisher, Antony Hill, Robert Tutton, Julian Dark, Steve Foote, Liam Carroll, Gary Murphy, Barry Primmer, Paul Kimber, Justin Lee, Mark Orlando, Paul Spittle, Ronnie Williams, Shaun Pearce, Dave Southam, Stewart Parsons.
On another subject, could I also please make you all aware that one of our players (Leigh Bastable) in April is doing a cycle ride from John O'Groats to Lands End in 10 days. Leigh is doing this for a charity called the Maya Childcare Trust. Leigh would be very grateful if as many people could sponsor him as possible via the website address below. You will also be able to follow his training, and then also the ride itself on this website. Please pass this onto as many people as possible.
Fair play to Leigh, he realised he was struggling with his fitness to get into the vets starting 11, so he has gone through this to hopefully get himself fit enough to challenge for a place in my starting line up???
