dirt....
Can't belive the shambolic nature of the performance last night. Polar opposite of Saturdays game. Did anyone see them out on the town celebrating because it looked like most were playing with a hang-over?
In my opinion, Mekki was the only player in the Hoops which showed any kind of spark and lets not forget he isn't even a City player....clearly his personal ambition to break into the Aldershot first team is a much greater influence than Oxford City's survival is for everybody else.
Maybe its simplier...maybe we just can't play at night?...I notice we do seem to play much much worse mid week than on Saturdays and I guess the whole working thing has an influence but its the same for every other team in the league (apart from Salisbury), Im not asking to win everygame... but im asking to show some form of effort... Yet last night was a complete capitulation....in a Derby game...infront of bumper Tuesday night crowd. It was unacceptable.
Just to add Salt to the wound I thought Alexis put in a Man of the match performance for diddy....looks like we're in for a rough ride if all our former players up there game against us (wait...or is he is acturally that good, why was it he leaved again?)......just imagine if Gunny had been playing as well....we probably wouldn't even have had the 2 or 3 shots we did have.
Right...Pressure on Fordy, Nothing less thana win is acceptable against Tivvy....at least we got 2 weeks to prepare.

theres no words other than "crap" to describe last night.
Our worst performance of the season against a poor low morale Didcot team, we'd have conceded far more against a top side
The first 5 minutes we looked very sharp and as though we really wanted it, after all it is our big local derby and then.........85 minutes of woeful football, our defence slamming the ball out of play with the majority of clearances, the midfield were non-existant and the forward line completely dominated by Andy Williams in the Didcot defence.
I'm sure they were given a bollocking after the game, there was no sense of fight, no heart and no spirit.
We were bloody brilliant on Saturday against Weymouth, we played some excellent football and the players looked to be enjoying themselves but to come off the back of that with a "performance" like last night is shameful
we now MUST beat Tiverton or we'll be sampling Yate Town,Afc Hayes etc again next season
The players are capable of producing much better than that

Not sure if it was complacency after Saturday, but it just looked like they wanted it more than us.
Can anyone remember if we had shot on target?
A decent crowd & good atmosphere though. (Just a shame we have to rely on away fans to provide both)
Who was that potty mouth behind the goal? So glad I didn’t bring my daughter last night. I know the Diddy Keeper was a wind up merchant, but calm down mate!!!

Thats what you call being stuffed they have let the club down big time ,all season we have been complete shambles if you can not find your right team in the 40 odd players you havesigned so far this year maybe its time to move on and let a new man get us out of this relegation fight we are in

Poor Performance Last night, made didcot look a decent outfit, players looked tired and ragged after saturdays emphatic win. The 6 points took off didcot and the winless streak had a impact as didcots mentality showed and from the word go they showed that they were up for it. For them it was a must win game. I here ady williams had drafted in a few players from reading.
As for the didcot keeper what absolute cocky arrogant t##t, abusing us fans behind the goal, the bloke who was giving the goalie a hard time had asked him a simple question where is steve smith mate, to the sound of hes knackered (meaning not good enough),james then said wheres he gone, the bloke wouldnt reply, only taunting james to keep his mouth shut. Everytime the goalie would get the ball, he would time waste and laugh at us. even saying get back to school to the young lads behind the goal. James called him a few names, but the goalie callled james a W****r. and was gesturing to him. Anyone see the, celebration after the 2nd goal towards us fans. and also then running upto the players at the other end. Didcot on last nights account if they play like that every game they will have enough to stay up. as for city i think we have the quality to stay up, we just got to show it every game. instead of dribs and drabs.
Now like everyone has said tiverton game is a must win game.. Didcot away last game of season, game which i reckon will determine 1 team to relegation..

I am not surprised the Diddy goalie had time to have a dialogue with the crowd for the whole game he never had anything else to do. Did he have to make a save? I can't remember one.
Due to work etc this was the first time I had been down for a couple of months and now wished I had kept the £9 in my pocket. When you pay your money you sort of expect your team to have a least one shot in the game.
Agree Mekki was our best player, looked useful and Clarky tried his best as ever. Including the vets who played at Carterton i think i counted 48 different players who have pulled on a hooped shirt this season. The problem started with the pre season signings who never really looked up to this standard and Fordy has been trying to find replacements ever since.
I don't think we will go down as it will now be bottom 3, but it will be close on this display.
Lets hope for better things against Tiverton

A huge disappointment last night. Mekki and Clarke apart I really didn't think there was anyone playing up to expectations, and Didcot just 'wanted it' more! Agreed, I don't think Sam Worrell will have had an easier day at the office: a few corners and crosses but otherwise, nothing. Oh, and I reckon that's now 49 (inc. subs) who've featured so far this season.
So, if we do stay up this season, and I think we will, what about 2011/12? Are there enough players in the vicinity, and the right price bracket, to keep City and other local teams at this level in the Pyramid? I just wonder if it might not be a little like a dozen or so years ago when, for a variety of reasons, City, Thame and Abingdon all rose rapidly into the upper reaches of the Isthmian League but then couldn't all maintain the standard at the same time and slipped down again. Not intended as scaremongering: a serious question. Any thoughts?

Another diagram thanks to TivvyAl from the ZamPrem forums.... There is a pattern here...oddly enough you will find taht Truro having used only 19 players this season are also top of the league.....the other 'stable' clubs are also in the top half of the table, while teams that turn over players week in-week out are down the bottom. Lesson for all aspiring managers out there....try and keep your bloody team together. This list also doesn't include the vets joining in for the OCC game, so in reality we might be pushing 50? assuming we survive this season I think there is going to be a whole load of changes that will need to take place. 1. Find a replacement for Steele...Im going out on a limb and saying if he hadn't leaved us earlier in the season, we wouldn't be in the mess we find ourselves now, but the rumor mill suggests he is going to hang up his boots after this season for good. 2. Find a replacement for Sav...again rumor suggests he might take up a Coaching role or even indeed a management role (watch out Fordy)....but the fact is he doesn't need to be told he ahs lost an ounce of pace this season and is getting caught on the ball all to often, however he is still capable of picking taht killer pass and spreading the play.....Basically we need a confident Midfield partner to sit back along side Malone and can spread that play. Maybe even more attacking minded than Sav, but we need someone who is not scared of the ball and who doesn't panic when the midfield becomes congested. 3. Sort the goalkeeper situation....Jenson works very well with our defence but as it stands he is still a Swindon player, which assuming they don't release him will mean we are without a goal keeper...again. 4. Defensivly , We need some cover, Clarkey spent most of last night limping around in the second half because although he was injured there were no defenders on the bench and so he couldn't be replaced...also Question marks over McIllwain give his constant time in the physio room and his lapses when the ball is to feet, but he is brilliant in the air and is scoring goals....maybe if Diddy go down we could grab Gunny back, but I guess Fordy would need to out for that to happen. 5. Wait wait...am I asking to much here?....I mean for a team thats pulling what, 200 punters a game...mostly away fans is this asking to much....I mean we don't know what the financial situation is, but alas, 200 people certainly is not enough to keep a club sustained at this level with the talent needed....local or otherwise, in my honest opinion.

Point five is the old chesnut isn't Hedges.
Need a supporters club, run by a regular. Someone who goes to most (if not every game), who is will known around the club. Make the place more welcoming and people will come. Get flags made. Make up silly songs. Go on away trips. It's fun. I tried this, but ultimately I couldn't commit to it, and I wasn't a recognised/approachable face on the terraces. OCFC need this. Seriously. We went to Leamington, they got a core fanbase that is brought together by a supporters club. Look at the other sides in the league, they all have them.
Of course, with a team up the road only charging a few quid more, for professorial League 2 attacking attractive football, I'm not surprised that people are choosing the Kassam over CPF.

If anyone is serious about running a proper supporters club, then I've got the oxfordcityfans domain registered until September 2012. Rather than using it as a "newsy" style website, could restrict it to simply information on supporters club matters (with support from the OCFC pitchero page)...
Seriously though, with my organisation skills, Hedges inter-personal skills and Padz's commitment, we could make a dream team of an supporters club. Serious.
*Waits for any good intentions to fall on deaf ears*

It's a bit chicken-and-egg though, isn't it? Does the using lots of players lead to poor performances, or come about as a result of poor performances?? Certainly if a team is underperforming you would expect a manager to try and change things around by bringing in new blood. Equally, if you've managed to produce a side that is winning then you stick with it.
P.S. The 49 players who've played for the 1st XI does include the Vets who featured v Carterton + subs.

I agree with your point but only to a certain extent. Yes mangers are entitled to strengthen there side if they are struggaling but the fact is we have gone through 43, maybe 49 or 50 players this season. We have only played 27 league games....now im going to go wrong but if I remember off hand, 1 FA cup game, 1 FA Trophy game, 2 Red Insure games and several OSC games (not sure how many as I didn't follow it). We still have a turn over of players at a ratio of almost 2 a game, which in my eyes is unacceptable.
Having said that and as you adeared to we are lucky at City to have a Nomads team who have several players possibly on the fringes of breaking into the 1st team and a number who featured for the 1st team in some capacity this season and of course the vets so in Reality we have acturally used around about 30 players that are not part of the City set-up.
Thats still a turn over of almost one player a game and I just don't feel that some players are given enough chance. It seems as soon as an indervidurals form dips, they are out the door, without being given the time or indeed the oppotunity to sort the issue.
If the player is not willing to put the effort in then why is he here and should be kicked out, but as fans we know when we see a player that tries, he might fail, he might be out of form but he tries..whats wrong with giving that player a chance to drop into the Nomads and attempt to get that form back, before jumping the gun and giving him the boot?
Same thing really with new players, some players adapt better than others but a player, unless he is shocking (example Richard Barret against Cirencester) should be given time to settle and I just feel new players arn't being given that.
The point is, when you have got players like Clarke or Malone turning up on a Saturday to the ground before a game not knowing who his defensive or Midfield partners are or if its the same back 4 as the previous week, or the same group he trained with on the thursday, until he gets into the changing room is completely wrong In my opinion.....this so I gather was the situation in the first half of the season....how can we expect to do anything under those circumstances?
I think its upto the Board,Management AND players to ensure that, we have a stable yet capable squad next season and I think we will still have bad days down the farm, but we will also have many more good days.

And as if the illustrate the point - City sign Organ and Ashton leaves and joins Banbury.
Organ looked a competent player when I've seen him at Abingdon Utd, but is he a better player than Ashton ? Only time will tell.....
The merry go-round continues....

Well it all adds up to the same old thing the team from last season only needed to be tweeted a little , but for some reason hole changes were done and the likes of Gunny, Davis, James, Alexis, Sandy, have gone and been replaced with players not as good as them and some of the players from the Nomads ie;Knight, Morris have not been given a fair chance. With Knight when he played last season he looked very promising but for some reason he has fallen out of faver and all the ones that have gone are all local lads, not players who have a 100 mile + round jouney
