I was gonna post a similar thread this week but didn't think anyone would be interested...
Think there's gonna be a big group of us (the younger "choir" lot who don't go anymore) as there's a birthday that weekend. Cheers for the pub recomendation, we'll get in there early doors! Anywhere else half decent in Chippenham?
If you travel as part of group of four, the trains work out at £6.50 each.
If anyone's thinking about going, drop me a message (or write on the thread) and you can arrange to come with us, as the group saver tickets will work out a lot cheaper.

it was an awful game there last year, in contrast to the year before when we beat them in the league and also lost on pens in a league cup game.

The Old Road Tavern is just over the train bridge (back entrance of station)..good ales and pretty reasonable priced food from memory! Down hill..under bridge and straight over roundabout to ground - 10 min walk max. Social club along side of ground was ok too. Some ok pubs around Chippenham, though nothing exceptional from what I found. Good day out..far enough to be an away day..close enough to be releatively cheap and earlyish return!

Very pleased to hear the result, a useful three points away from home. No fireworks landing on the pitch this time?

Terrific battling display from the boys yesterday who rightly deserved the cheers they got at the final whistle. Felipe had his best display for the first team which can only further cement his place in the starting 11, his pace scares defenders no end and the work put in leading up to Lyonsy's goal was superb. the back 3 kept Alan Griffin at bay, a player that has caused us problems in the past, a few people questioned Richard Peirson's return but if theres a ball in the air you know it's only going to have one winner. Referee was a complete joke, booking one of the Chippenham players despite the fact he appeared to stamp on Liam's chest in front of the bench, and then awarding a freekick against Savage when he swings his leg back to clear the ball and gets clattered in a 50/50 situation which led to him being stretchered off into an awaiting ambulance, it'd be hard to beat the totally inept referee at Bashley last tuesday but this guy ran him close and with an assessor in attendance, why do we never see a decent referee, the last half decent official was ironically Ms Sian Massey (she of Andy Gray fame) Two home games coming up, Stourbridge who seem to have a mixed bag of results but are definately beatable and Cirencester who's 4-1 win over us at their place flattered them greatly. Good atmosphere and no little chav supporters causing us problems this year.............and no fireworks!

Good day out yesterday..fantastic priced food in the Old Road Tavern...fantastic ales and ciders in the Three Crowns (literally the only two in the place for a time!) and one of best Weatherspoons around (next to the river) afterwards. Good battling performance from City..going forward even after the late Chippenham goal could have seen a backs against the wall last few minutes.
