City vets continued there 100% winning record with a 5-2 home victory over a strong Ducklington side.
City started very slowly and fell behind after 10 minutes. The goal was a wake up call for City, and from that point on they never looked back, and equalized in the 18th minute after Ducklington's keeper (Chris Panter) came out to clear his lines, but unfortunately fell to Mike Ford, who calmly volleyed it back into an empty net from 35 yards.
City then went 2-1 in front 2 minutes later after Ford put Paul Spittle clear, who calmly finished passed the helpless Panter.
2 minutes later, and it was 3-1 as a fine flowing move ended with Wayne Holden squaring to Paul Spittle to calmly slot away his second.
5 minutes before the break City got their fourth to almost kill off any hopes of Ducklington getting back in to the game thanks to another fine move this time Gary Murphy setting up Paul Kimber who finished the move with a lovely lob over the helpless Panter.
The boys went in at half-time buzzing, with some of the lads saying that could have been the best football we have played all season, only to be shot down by assistant manager Paul Creed, who gave us the hairdryer treatment. Good job we wasn't losing!!! There could have been teacups flying everywhere???
HALF-TIME: City 4 Ducklington 1
City made a couple of changes at half-time with Dave Southam & Ronnie Williams replacing Wayne Holden & Justin Lee.
Ducklington obviously got the same half-time treatment as City, as they came out of the traps stronger, and pulled a goal back within 4 minutes of the restart thanks to a far post header.
City killed the game off with 15 minutes remaining as Paul Kimber slipped the free scoring Mike Ford in to coolly slot home his second.
The final whistle went, and a few of the boys were holding back going into the changing rooms worried that Creedy will not be happy that we only won 5-2!!!
FINAL SCORE - City 5 Ducklington 2.
Team: Carl Fisher, Robert Tutton, Julian Dark, Steve Foote, Gary Murphy, Mark Orlando, Justin Lee, Mike Ford, Paul Kimber, Wayne Holden, Paul Spittle. Subs: Dave Southam, Ronnie Williams, Paul Creed, Darrell Cribben, Leigh Bastable.
