The Over 40's last night progressed through to the Semi-Finals of the Over 40's County Cup finally going through on penalties away to Abingdon Town. City struggled to break down a resilient Abingdon Town rear guard, and the game ended all square at NIL-NIL. No extra-time & straight into penalties. All 5 of City's penalties were despatched by Williams, Foote, Pearce, Holden & Ford. Abingdon Town also converted their first 4 only for keeper Carl Fisher making a fantastic save for their final penalty to give City a 5-4 win, and then jumped up and shouted "THAT's FOR YOU CREEDY". An open top bus has been planned for Didcot & Wallingford today for Fish, Bas & Ant, although I understand it is making a diversion to the Kings Arms in Woodstock along the way???
TEAM: Carl Fisher, Robert Tutton, Julian Dark, Shaun Pearce, Steve Foote, Mark Orlando, Justin Lee, Ronnie Williams, Barry Primmer, Wayne Holden, Dave Southam. Sub: Mike Ford
Next game is next Wednesday (23/03/11). Over 35's are back in league action, at Abingdon Town again, but against Chinnor. Kick-off, 7.45PM.
