The Vets finished their league campaign in style with a convincing 4-1 win at home to Kidlington on Wednesday, and complete a 100% win record.
City took the lead after 15 minutes, as Paul Spittle was put through and un-selfishly squared the ball to Paul Kimber to slot into an empty net. City then were guilty of missing 3-4 good chances, and were made to pay just before half-time, as Kidlington equalized against the run of play.
HALF-TIME: OXFORD CITY 1 KIDLINGTON 1
City came out strong again, and 5 minutes into the 2nd half took the lead once again, as Wayne Holden crossed for Dave Southam to finish clinically. 20 minutes in, and it was 3-1 after good work down the right side by Barry Primmer, who crossed, and this time Paul Spittle finished in style. 5 minutes later, and the game was killed off after Paul Spittle got his second following up Holden's shot, to make the final score 4-1.
FULL-TIME: OXFORD CITY 4 KIDLINGTON 1
TEAM: Carl Fisher, Robert Tutton, Justin Lee, Shaun Pearce, Andy Cooper, Barry Primmer, Ronnie Williams, Paul Kimber, Dave Southam, Wayne Holden, Paul Spittle. Subs: Paul Creed, Darrell Cribben.
The Vets are on the end of season outing to Ascot on Saturday, but are going to be down at Oxford City for breakfast at 9.30am for autographs and photo's, and then also at The Living Room that evening (for those who are still awake).
The final game is next Wednesday in the Over 40's final at Abingdon Town against Chinnor, kick-off 7.45PM. Hopefully we would all have recovered by then?
P.S - A Happy birthday to Creedy, who is celebrating his 75th birthday today.
