It seems a shame after such an excellent display that no one has written on here, so hoping this works may I congratulate each and every player on that field who made Leamington average. A few stood out for me and worked extremely hard, but as a team well done one and all, excellent afternoon of football.

Sorry Guest, Padz and myself who would normally get the ball rolling on here couldn't make the game so can't comment.
It sounds however from what ive read on the Leamington forum and from what my dad said (who did make the game) we did very very well, the result surprised me to be honest but then again we are a team taht that has a trend of playing much better against the better rated teams than those we should beat quite comfortably. We closed down and hassled them and they apparently only had 1 shot on target and that was the goal late on!
Also good to see Steele back in the starting line up and I heard Pondy had a cracker, great to see...Onwards and Upwards!!

Thought game itself was largely unremarkable except for....Barcellos' goal...excellently taken..class! Couldn't see if City's pen was a pen...but definite shout for one in the dying minutes.
Also have to say, Leamington's support and flags were class..must have had getting on for half the 366 crowd!

The penalty given was definitely right--I saw Felipe's foot clipped jsut before he went down. It was accidental but you see them given regularly at Premiership level. But the penalty not given was actually more blatant and I thought the ref bottled it. Their keeper clearly clearly took out Declan who was bearing down on goal and in the area; even though he got the ball in the process he got the man as well. Overall it was a very good team performance with Darren Pond the star on his return to first-class action. The second goal was worthy of MOTD. Steele controlled a high pass on his chest/shoulder under pressure from two defenders and as the ball dropped, back-heeled it into the path of the onrushing Barcellos whose pace took him past the defenders. As the keeper came out he chipped it over him into the far right corner of the net. Absolute peach of a goal out of nothing. Best I've seen this season of Ashton, Benjamin, Steele and Lyon. Learoyd played as well as he did against Redditch. No-one had a poor game. Martin looked very comfortable in midfield. But Pond was just different class.
