Should be four Cobblers (two from MK) swelling the City ranks at Hemel on Monday...£25 to watch Di Canio's boys isn't so attractive! Speaking of attractive, with Hemel Hempstead being little more than, sorry..a concrete dump..alighting the train at Berkhamsted (nice place!) and the Rising Sun, on the Grand Union Canal bank. The pub is on the cover of the 2012 Good Beer Guide...ales and ciders await! Sorry (2) celebrating long into the night after beating the Yellow half...felt too bad coming home today to make Cambridge game!

I think that there are occasions in life when one needs to support other teams in Oxfordshire, even if it is just the once, so come on Banbury, please take a couple of points off Brackley for us! Come on, you Hoops. Keep it going. We won decisively at Hemel last season, so I hope Felipe has his lucky boots on today!

Let's hope it's this week - though the forecast isn't good. Two midweek games in either of the following weeks would not be a good thing.
Nomads to (hopefully) get back on winning trail this afternoon: Shortwood have (on the face of it) a comfortable home game against Fairford.

Well, I only heard about it from Radio Oxford when I was near Milton Keynes, so I turned round and made for Banbury. Unfortunately they didn't manage a draw against Brackley, but looking at the other results we are still well in the mix. The Hemel replay throws a real spanner in the schedule, however.

Quite a lot of comment on the Hemel forum about the rescheduling issues.

Can't understand how a bit of light rain calls a game off! Nevertheless, four of us got to Berkhamsted and the Rising Sun by the Grand Union Canal..Cider Pub of the year..and they were great! Oxford City scarf up there and the Weatherspoons. Thought about Leighton Town v Barton Rovers...but ciders won the day!

Crowd trouble at Weymouth.... bottles and punches thrown.....im beginning to think its a south west thing, especially after our exsperience at Weston earlier in the season!

This is a terrible time for the fixture. Why couldn't it be this week? Or why can't the Oxfordshire Cup Final wait until after the season ends? With this, City face three crunch matches--one final and two play-off deciders--within four days. How can we expect to have our best team fit for the last two? If we sacrifice the Hemel match, that wouldn't be fair to their relegation-threatened rivals; if we decide in advance to sacrifice the Hitchin game, we either miss out on the play-offs, og get a worse draw than we would have; if we sacrifice neither, we go into the most important matc(es) of the season with a tired and probably depleted team. Someone in the league administration seems not to like us. All because of a stupid rule 9which never used to apply) that all league matches have to finish at the same time on the last day!

...and the other outdated rule that County Cups take priority over absolutely everything.
Surely it would be better to get the 'national' leagues out of the way before the local finals. Looking on the Hemel Forum it seems like it was a surfeit of County games on their ground that meant we couldn't play them this week.

Agreed the timing isn't the best, but then I also think we are in as good position as anybody to battle through this crunch period.
One saving grace is that the nomads have no midweek game next week, so Fordy can call on all of Justins resources as well as his own regular 1st team players.
Oviously for the OSC we'll have to field a full strength team, since all the nomads players are cup-tied, after taht it depends on the state of the squad and how Fordy feels. Risk a slightly weaker team against Hemel with some Nomads thrown in to the mix and field a full strength team against Brackley or go for the juggular against Hemel with everything, but then risk potentially being turned over by Brackley and also conceeding any outside chnace of winning the title....which in my opinion is Brackleys now anyway....at least theres to throw away.
Should add that, yes...I will point a rude figer in Hemels general direction should we now end the seaon with nothing.

It's not Hemel's fault, but the officials who make and apply daft rules. You'd have thought the Oxon County people would have wanted a team from their county to have maximum chance of a successful season. By insisting we play the final next week, they have certainly ruined any chance City might still have had of winning the league, as well as making it more difficult to qualify for the playoffs, and ensuring that if we do get there, we'll have a team too tired and depleted by injury to have a realistic chance of promotion. A season's work more or less down the drain, and it is out of our hands!

And what about the fans? Or do we not matter having to find the funds to visit all those games, I wanted to see ox senior cup Final but will now not, these are extraordinary times and the postponement had nothing to do with us, simple end of season cup rearangment after we have won the play off final or it could cost us play off place, madness. I bet Ford is as pleased as punch! I think not.
