A deserved win for the Hoops who were clearly the better side in the second half. Heroic performances all round, but especially from Liam Malone, who was everywhere (for someone not yet fully fit he was amazing tonight) and, particularly in the second half, Declan Benjamin who was frightening the Lilywhites more and more the longer the game went on. I thought we might get a bit leggy after so many matches recently, and sit back deep to defend a slender lead, but this time we didn't.
The spirit among the squad seems very good so bring on Totton. After the hammering we took from them at the start of the season, who would have thought we'd now be facing them in the play-off final? And wouldn't it be great to go up by beating them this time?
As Mike Ford was saying in Ford Focus tonight, we could never have expected to be where we are now when you think where we were a year or so ago. Whatever the result on Monday, I want to thank him and all the team he has moulded, for giving us such a good season and so much to enjoy this year.
