Oxford City Girls Under 13's & Under 16's are both involved in the County Cup Final this Sunday at Witney Town FC.
The Under 13's are actually playing in the Under 14's Final. Having been asked at the start of the season if we wanted to enter, as City did not have an Under 14's team. We accepted the offer, as thought it would be good experience to going up to 11-a-side on full size pitches, and to see how they fair against bigger and stronger girls a year older. To then make it all the way to the final has been a massive achievement for the girls. Thame United are our opponents this Sunday. Kick-off 10.30AM.
Squad: Lucy Hunter, Megan Thorpe (Captain), Dara Austin, Alexis Parsons, Lara Allthorp, Chloe Holden, Iona Smith, Shelley Knight, Lily Hernandez, Lauren Page, Miriam Pritchard, April Bedford.
The Under 16's then entertain Carterton. Kick-off 1PM. Both sides have had a right battle for the league title this season, with both teams finishing on the same number of points, but Carterton have been crowned champions, because of a better head to head in the 2 league games between the 2 teams. First game was 1-1 at City, and Carterton coming out top with a 3-2 win in their home game. City looking to gain revenge, and pick up their first piece of silverware this season. They also meet each other in the League Cup Final on May 19th at Thame United.
Both teams have booked a coach for Sunday, and will travel together, and add their vocal support to each other. Would very much appreciate if all other loyal City supporters and all other City teams players, coaches, etc, would come along and cheer on the girls. I can assure you, you will see some very entertaining football from a very talented set of girls.
